IGN Talk With Zelda Devs About Breath Of The Wild

IGN recently caught up with Zelda: Breath of the Wild director Hidemaro Fujibayashi, technical director Takuhiro Dohta, and art director Satoru Takizawa to talk more indepth about the development and creation of the game which brought up some very interesting comments.  Some topics that were brushed on include starting out with a small team, the 2D prototype that represents the original Legend Of Zelda on NES, creating The Great Plateau first and building the map around it afterwards, How guardians came to be and more.

Below is a summary of the interview. You can find the full article at IGN here. I would also like to point out that most of the topics that were touched upon were also discussed in Nintendo’s three-part Making Of… Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild which you can check out in one of our previous posts (Video) The Making Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild.

Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Champion Weapons Replacement Guide

Most of you that have been playing Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, be it on the Nintendo Switch or Wii U, you will no doubt have come to a point in the game where you have used one of the Champion’s weapons and have it break on you. Though they are awarded to you after recapturing the Divine Beast by the chief of the people that the said Divine Beast is to supposedly protect, these weapons are much stronger and durable but not unbreakable and will eventually have to be discarded.

All is not lost however, as there are masons of sorts in each of the four hometowns of the Champions that can replace the Champion weapon associated with their champion. The Zora mason can replace Mipha’s Trident, the Goron mason can replace the Daruk’s Sword, The Rito mason can replace Revali’s Bow and Buliara can replace Urbossa’s Scimitar and Shield. To replace each item comes at a cost which requires certain materials to forge them. Most being a weaker version of the weapon, a diamond and 5 pieces of flint or wood. Check out the slideshow below which shows you which characters you will need to talk to in order to recreate the appropriate Champion’s Weapon.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

You can only replace the champion weapons if you have already owned them. The masons won’t forge you replacement weapons until you have beaten the Divine Beast that threatens their land and possessed the original Champion’s weapon which is awarded to you by the Chief of their Race.

SuperData Reveals Nintendo Switch to have Sold 1.5 Million Units in its First Week

Well, if Nintendo refuses to give us a number, I guess we’ll just have to listen to the sales tracking firm SuperData instead.

According to a gamesindustry.biz article, SuperData states, Nintendo has sold 1.5 million Switch units worldwide and those numbers do contain data that has been provided by GFK and Famitsu. However those numbers are just for first week sales. Nintendo always said would sell 2 million units during March and if those numbers are true, than that figure could easily have been reached already. But that’s not all! Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Elixir Guide

The Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has indeed broken from tradition of collecting hearts to restore your health and has also added environmental dangers that can harm you as well, be it atop of Icy mountains or Active Volcanoes to even braving the desert or running amok amidst a thunderstorm. To replenish life you have to cook items you have gathered and make dishes to increase the amount of hearts you can recover (Check out our Cooking Recipe Guide for more information). However, while some foods do have extra effect bonuses, sometimes you don’t want to waste a dish that could help you out later on just for an effect boost, this is where elixirs come in so allow us to present to you our Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Elixir Guide!

[Update] Breath of the Wild Receives its First Update (Version 1.1.0)

While Breath of the Wild may not be in the hands of the general public just yet, (in most places) it is in the hands of various reviewers, influences and Australian gamers and so, in preparation of the Expansion Pass that can be purchased tomorrow, a new update has rolled out for Breath of the Wild.

The update is small in size and enables Breath of the Wild to be downloadable content compatible and will show as such on the main menu of the game, but until tomorrow, nothing shows up when players click on it. It is also currently unknown if the game has been affected in any other way, such as bug fixes and the like, but should official patch notes come to light, we will be back with an update.

Link Can Ride The Elks In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

It seems that Horses are not the only thing Link can ride in the Zelda: Breath Of The Wild as he can also mount and ride Elks as well. YouTuber SwimmingBird941 has recorded footage of doing just that and also a lot of other things you can do in the game. It is worth noting that even though you can befriend and sooth the elks much like the horses, they do not sprint or able to be registered and kept in the various stables dotted around Hyrule. There may be somewhere in the game where you can store them but that remains to be seen.

New Amiibo Data Found In Breath Of The Wild Executable File According To Source Gaming

Source Gaming have uploaded a video stating that 3 more potential amiibo could be coming due to their listing inside a datafile for Zelda: Breath Of The Wild. The three amiibo are titled: Link_Majora, Link_Twilight & Link_Skyward.  You can see them in the list below which comes from Reddit.

Like we said, Source Gaming covered it in their latest video which you can see here.

I would find these a welcoming addition to my ever growing collection of Zelda amiibo as it could bring new variants of link from different parts of the series. What will be interesting to see is how the Twilight Princess Link will look as we already a version of him (with his yellow stand) in the Smash Bros amiibo series. I guess only time will tell.

GAME España Offers Wii U Trade-In For Nintendo Switch From €199.95

Emails from Game España (Spain) are being sent out to their customers offering a trade-in plan to be able to purchase the newest console from Nintendo, the Switch,  from €199.95. This will mean parting with your Wii U & Gamepad and also a few games as well to get as close to the minimum offer as posible. I personally won’t be parting with my Wii U any time soon, as tempting as the offer may be as I do have The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild for Wii U on Pre-order along with the new Zelda amiibos as well.

On the subject of Zelda Breath Of The Wild, Game España are also offering a trade-in of various Wii U games to be able to purchase the game at €29.99. This is also another suck in, as Game España are offering  €16 for New Super Mario Bros U and just Dance 2017 for €14. The catch is that both the game and box must be in perfect condition. If you can read Spanish, you can see for yourself below.
