Hello and welcome back to Jacktendo Selects, the monthly Miketendo64 feature that’s about to get a formula face-lift.
I’ve liked how I’ve handled this feature for the last couple of months, but it’s time to streamline the feature a bit and have it looking a little more trimmed up. So from here on out this feature will now just focus on 6 games that made my Top 6 and have a paragraph dedicated to a game I feel should get an honorary mention and another paragraph dedicated to the game I’m looking forwards to releasing next month and now not to drag it out any further, here are my Top 6 games for August in both digital and written form:
9/10 – Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
9/10 – The Jackbox Party Pack
8/10 – Sonic Mania
8/10 – The Jackbox Party Pack 2
8/10 – Retro City Rampage DX
8/10 – Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack
Picking the 6 listed above was not easy as August saw the release of a lot of great indie games, games such Slime-san, Ironcast and Rocket Fist, but I would not change a thing about the line-up. They truly are the best of the best, but neither of them are my honorary mention, as they are games Switch owners will most likely purchase anyway. Instead, the game I wish to reveal as my Jacktendo Selects title for August is none other than League of Evil. Ported to Switch by Ratalaika Games, it is an action packed retro platformer that comes complete with a level editor, which means not only can you create your own levels, but you can upload them so others can play them as well, so even if you blitz through the main campaign in just a few hours, there’s still a whole ton of gaming hours that await you!
As much as I adored League of Evil though, as it is really enjoyable when you give it a chance, but it and so many other games that game out last month, do not compared to the indie greatness we have coming this September. Image & Form Games’ SteamWorld Dig 2 is out on September 21st and it is going to be off the hook! It truly encompasses everything SteamWorld fans wanted from a Dig sequel and delivers so much more and less than 3 weeks from now, everyone with a Switch can get it and it really doesn’t get better than that!
Once again, thank you all for taking the time to check out another instalment of Jacktendo Selects. I hope you like the new flow of things and since the Nintendo Switch has been out for 6 months now, here is a list of my Top 10 games on the console and if you feel like it, you can list your Top 10 in the comments below:
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Snake Pass
- Disgaea 5 Complete
- LEGO City Undercover
- Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas
- Splatoon 2
- Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Shantae: Half-Genie Hero
- The Jackbox Party Pack
I had a lot of fun with Sonic Mania. Steamworld Dig 2 could be good. I prefer Steamworld Heist though.
