With the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion now here, we have two new areas to explore; The Jungle and the Citadel. Both of these locales come with their own biodiversity and most importantly, a Sub-Camp location where, once found and established, will grant you a fast travel location and another place where you can manage your equipment, item box and eat when on a hunt.
Both MHR: Sunrise Sub-Camps are not the easiest places to find on your own. We spent a good while wandering around trying to find these locations ourselves and now that we have achieved that goal, we wish to help you find them as well.
How to establish Sub-Camps in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak
Finding and establishing Sub-Camps in the Sunbreak expansion is very much the same process as with Monster Hunter Rise. You must first find the location which will have a burnt-out campfire to mark the area, you must then speak to the merchant back at the camp (or in this case Elgado Outpost). Oboro the merchant will give you a request to kill a certain number of small monsters causing mischief in the area. Upon completing the request, you will gain access to the new sub-camp on the next hunt in that locale.
Jungle Sub-Camp Location
The Jungle Sub-Camp location is a very tricky one to find and can be very easily missed. To find it, first make your way to the beach in Area 3 and then look at the large cliff face along the southern part of the beach. Along one part of that wall, you will find three spirit bugs in a vertical line (close to where the Wirebug can be found). Run up the wall collecting the Spirit bugs as you go, and you will reach a small alcove.
Follow the tunnel in the alcove and you will reach the sub-camp location and a message prompt will appear saying that this would make a fine sub-camp location. Alternatively, there is a small tunnel system in between Area 9 and 8 that also connects up to the Sub-Camp location as well as to an underground fishing hole.
Once you have found the location, you must talk to Oboro the Merchant back at Elgado Outpost. He will give you a request to kill 8 Hermitaurs in the Jungle so they can securely set up the Sub-Camp. A good quest that you can take on to guarantee finding Hermitaurs in the Jungle is A Sinking Feeling. It is a MR1 Quest and you will only have to kill the specified small monsters in order to complete it.
Once you have defeated the required amount of Hermitaurs and finish the quest, return to Oboro the Merchant and he will give you the A Okay that the sub-camp can now be used!
Citadel Sub-Camp Location
The Citadel Sub-Camp location is another difficult one to find and requires a keen eye. From the base camp, head north to Area 5. To the right of this area (right next to the number five on the map) there is a narrow path. Follow it around to a ledge and make your way up. You will then come to find some abandoned buildings. Along one side of these buildings is another path that you must go down.
This path opens up to a fork. Take the left fork where the bone pile is and follow it to the end. Here, you will find the burnt-out campfire and you will receive a message prompt saying that this area will make a great Sub-Camp location.
Once you have found the location, you must talk to Oboro the Merchant back at Elgado Outpost again. He will give you a request to kill 8 Boggi in the Citadel so they can securely set up the Sub-Camp. A good quest that you can take on to guarantee finding Boggi in the Citadel is Soft or Spotty?. It is a MR3 Quest and again, you will only have to kill the specified small monsters in order to complete it.
Once you have defeated the required amount of Boggi and finish the quest, return to Oboro the Merchant and he will give you the A Okay that the sub-camp can now be used!
