Hey all! Mike of Miketendo64 here. Has it really been six years already? Every year I look back and think “Wow, the last year went fast!” and here I am again. We have come quite far since we first began and the continuous support from our followers has given us the strength to keep going and keep striving forward.

The last year has been tough on all of us and it has given me a new perspective on how I run things at Miketendo64. If you are long-time followers, you may have noticed that we have been taking different tacks in how we do things. We are phasing out how we typically write reviews and have introduced our more refined Explain & Play features that we affectionately call “EXPlays“. They are more like mini-reviews that explain the game and look at some of the noteworthy features that each game offers. We also provide gameplay of the game so you can see for yourself how it actually plays.

We have also minimized the way we tackle news posts and now only cover larger newsworthy posts like official announcements from game developers and publishers, and direct statements from press releases. We will occasionally cover other articles of interest and smaller news that has not been picked up by larger websites. It is extremely difficult to beat them or rank high enough in Search Engine results and by the time we cover the news and it is indexed on Google Search Console, it is already old hat.

Now that I have gone over what we have already started doing, let’s look at what we have coming up for the rest of the year. Well, we will be doing more feature articles and exclusive interviews on the way. We are also focusing on uploading more gameplay videos to our YouTube channel. It is nearing 2,000 subscribers which to us is fantastic as it was only 6 months ago or so it was still teetering around the 800 mark.

YouTube is an integral part of our EXPlay articles as we need a platform to upload our gameplay videos to. Please be sure to check in on our YouTube Channel from time to time as we are periodically uploading gameplay videos and unboxings to the channel. If there is any particular game you are interested in seeing, please let us know in the comments on YouTube. We will try our best to accommodate you.

Over on Twitter, we have hosted a number of giveaways over the last year as a means of being able to give back to our followers and show our appreciation for their continued support. We will continue to host giveaways and already have two lined up that we will announce very soon as part of our 6-year anniversary celebration. Be sure you follow @miketendo64 on Twitter so you can be informed of when the giveaways go live and have a chance to participate in them.

As I round up this editorial, I want to thank you all again sincerely for your continued and unwavering support over the years. Miketendo64 may not be as titanic as the likes of Eurogamer, IGN, or Nintendo Life, but it really means the world to us that you choose to read our articles and guides, that you engage and interact with us on Social Media, and in the comments right here on the website. We hope to continue to bring you informative and enjoyable content and may we continue on this journey together.

Here’s to another year of Miketendo64!
