Hello and welcome to the latest edition of Zelda You: Our Stories, our now bi-weekly regular feature series that is all about two things, our love for Zelda and our love for talking about Zelda. We already kicked the series off with staff stories, but now that the Miketendo64 staff have had their say, we’re sharing the stories that You have sent in to us, so what are we waiting for? It’s time to begin!

Today’s story comes from James Pitt, a Zelda fan born in the 90’s who even now can’t get enough of the series a lot of us are so passionate about.

James Pitt: -Breath of the Wild leaves me divided!:

Hi everyone, I’m James and just like a lot of us Zelda fans, my first game was of course the ever brilliant Ocarina of Time. How some people can say the game wasn’t all that, I will never know? It had story, it had character and even now the 64 version, is such an incredible game. Sure I play the 3D one on my 3DS, but I still like to play the original version from time to time and that will never change!

Ocarina of Time is simply a classic and for any Zelda fan who hasn’t played it, you simply must. Doesn’t matter if you hate how it looks or hate how it compares to the more recent titles, the series would not be what it is now without the likes of Ocarina of Time, the original The Legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past and Link’s Awakening and that’s a fact, but I don’t want to go any more into that, I want to talk about Breath of the Wild and share a thought or two on that.

If I’m honest, Breath of the Wild has me divided. It looks incredible, there is so much to do, so much to explore, but at the same time I wonder if it is simply too much for a Zelda game? As someone who has been playing the games across decades, I know full well how much each game can differ from the previous one game can vary greatly, but Breath is just something else entirely. I know I am going to love this game a lot and spend so many hours playing it, but I want this game to be a one-time thing.

After the amount of time it has taken to make it and we are still waiting for it to release on both the Wii U and the NX, I don’t want to wait another half decade for the next console game. Nintendo have shown time and time again that they can make incredible games in almost no time at all, take Majora’s Mask for example. Great Zelda game, console title and that only took 2 years to pull off, so surely Nintendo could make more great console games once every three years. (It’s not like they have a single team working on the games, they have a few.)

But I’m prattling on, so I’m going to wrap it up and call it a day. If Ii ever feel like saying more, I can always do another one of these, they’re fun. Bye everyone!”
