Hello and welcome to the latest edition of Zelda You: Our Stories, our now bi-weekly regular feature series that is all about two things, our love for Zelda and our love for talking about Zelda. We already kicked the series off with staff stories, but now that the Miketendo64 staff have had their say, we’re sharing the stories that You have sent in to us, so what are we waiting for? It’s time to begin!

Today’s story comes from Alex Keogh, a Zelda fan born in the 90’s who loves the earlier games!

Alex Keogh: -I am sick of these remasters!:

“Don’t get me wrong, I love Zelda more than most people I know, but I am just so sick of all these remasters. Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask were great when they came out the first time round and they’re still great now, without needing to be released on the 3DS. Same with the Wind Waker, but the Twilight Princess remake was just completely unnecessary. I never used the Ghost Lantern, so why they included it I don’t know and besides that, there’s almost no change whatsoever.

To me it comes across as a desperate grab for money as Nintendo throw out space filler, while we have to wait on newer titles and when we do get them, they’re just not the same as what they used to be. A Link Between Worlds is a clear remake of A Link to the Past and Tri Force Heroes, sure that may have been new and more original but really? Clothes. A Princess with bad fashion? Were Nintendo really that busy working on the remasters that they couldn’t be bothered with creating a much better story for a game that is actually canon? It’s like they smoked something in their pipes, came up with that and thought it was genius. I hate Tri Force Heroes, it is not Zelda game and I will never view it as such, but it is a lot better than Ocarina of Time 3D. The 3D remakes are just too easy compared to their original counterparts, at least they posed more of a challenge.

Then there’s Breath of the Wild, which is just terrible. The name is terrible, the new mechanics are terrible and I don’t care that Nintendo is saying it is not a remake, or a reboot of the original game, to me it is not Zelda. I have been playing Zelda games for the last 17 years and I’ve got to say I am starting to question what is becoming of the series I love. Yes I play Breath of Wild, but I don’t think I’m going to enjoy it as much as I enjoyed previous titles and unless the next Zelda came that follows is something more like what we’re used to seeing and is a proper Zelda title, I will have no choice but to admit I hate every Zelda game from 2011 onwards. I’m watching you Nintendo. Don’t let me down now.”

We would like to take this moment to thank Alex for sharing his views with us and if you would like to take a Deku leaf out of his book and do the same, then listen up because we revised the submission process to make it a much simpler experience. For those willing to put their story/experience forth and be credited for it, along with any photos you wish to send in as well, be sure to visit our Facebook Page Miketendo64 and send us a direct message. Or should you prefer a more direct route, you can send us an email at: miketendo64@gmail.com. We wish to have this series run for as long as possible, so there is no limit to the number of stories you can send in to us and nor is there a closing date for submissions, so what are you waiting for? Get in touch and leave your mark on the series today!
