Joining in with our #BrosWeek Celebration, Mr Nintendad himself has courteously shared his own My Favourite Bros Moment.

My sister and I had always played Mario games together.
From the first time we played Super Mario Bros. 3 on the NES, the sense of awe as we ventured into world 4. The sheer wonderment at encountering a giant goomba or completing World 5 and entering the helter skelter, only to realise upon completion that the world consisted of two maps!
Well, consider our young minds well and truly blown.
Or how about the time we first stumbled across Star Road in Super Mario World, utterly unintentionally discovering this world so multi faceted, so full of wonder and discovery.
Both of these memories fill me with a deep sense of contentment for a childhood filled to the brim with so many wonderful memories, so many of them centred around a Nintendo console.
But the one I recall that brings a real smile, an ear to ear grin befitting of this most joyous of game series, I owe to Super Mario 64.
I remember it as if it was only yesterday. I sat with my sister and our stepdad, and explored a game world quite like any other that we had ever experienced.
We were playing one of the games latter levels ‘Snowman’s Land’ and my sister was controlling the game. The mission was called ‘Into the Igloo’ and despite finding the Igloo she couldn’t work out how to get in.
After a while she grew frustrated and pleaded for help.
‘Stop acting like a baby’ I remarked, ‘if you’re going to crawl why should I help you?’
‘Don’t try and run before you can walk, and certainly before you’ve mastered the humble crawl’ my stepdad added.
We went back and forth for what seemed like an eternity, her frustrations blocking her better judgement and clouding her from the seemingly obviousness of the situation.
Looking back, my sister and I laugh with fondness at this memory and whilst our stepdad might not be here today to reminisce with us, we’ll always have our memories and playing Mario throughout the years has contributed to so many happy ones.
Here’s to many more!!
