*Last Updated: April 2, 2023 | New Tears of the Kingdom amiibo added now.
With the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and a brand-new Link amiibo to go with it, we thought we would look back on every Zelda themed amiibo that was ever released and share some interesting tidbits. For instance, did you know the first Link amiibo we got wasn’t even part of The Legend of Zelda amiibo series? It was in fact part of the Super Smash Bros. Collection, which was released on November 28, 2014?
What’s more, of the 28 Zelda themed amiibo released so far, only one of them is of Ganondorf, which is also part of the Super Smash Bros. Collection. Personally, we think it’s a crime there hasn’t been more Ganondorf amiibo, especially since Tears of the Kingdom has given Ganondorf a brand-new design that would make for an amazing amiibo and clearly Nintendo agree as a new Ganondorf and Zelda amiibo were announced on June 21, 2023 as part of a Nintendo Direct. After all, of the 28 available amiibo, 14 of them are all variations of Link. Who does he think he is, Kang the Conqueror?
Technically, if you include Sheik, 5 of the 28 amiibo are Zelda, which means of the remaining 6 amiibo (1 Ganondorf, 14 Link and 5 Zelda), four are the Champions from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with the remaining two being Bokoblin and Guardian, also from the same game.
It’s certainly been interesting to see which characters and in which forms made the cut, as we are sure we are all delighted there isn’t a Korok amiibo, but having said that, of the 28 current amiibo, 9 are all associated with Breath of the Wild and 5 are all part of the Super Smash Bros. Collection. By the time the new Four Sages amiibo release later on this year (2025), 28 becomes 32 and with a Mineru’s Construct amiibo in the works, 32 will become 33.
Still, that’s more enough facts for one day, for it is time to look at every Zelda themed amiibo ever released since 2014:
