Hi all, it’s Mike here! The clocks have chimed and fireworks have lit up the night sky once again has we usher in a new year. We at Miketendo64 would like to wish you all a very happy new year and may 2023 be a prosperous year for you all. 2022 has certainly had its ups and downs for many of us and the worldwide events have certainly not helped matters. We’ve had our fair share of complications but they certainly pale in comparison to those who have lost far much more this year than we have.

Rather than focus on the negatives, I would like to look back on some of our positive moments from 2022 and share them with you. Video game wise, we have had a rather interesting year. We had some fantastic releases for games like Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Bayonetta 3, Persona 5 Royal, Nier Automata: End of YoHRa Edition, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, and Pokémon Scarlet/Pokémon Violet. While there have been some very valid criticisms about the latter, bugs/glitches/issues aside, Pokémon Scarlet/Pokémon Violet has still sold exceptionally well and were a lot of fun. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was definitely our game of the year by far. The story, characters and world building was truly captivating from start to finish and I loved how they managed to bring the stories of previous entries in the series together.

2022 has been a generally favourable year for Miketendo64. The website has maintained reasonably stable traffic over the past 12 months. While it may not have exceeded the numbers of 2021, we did manage over 510,000 views and 350,000 visitors in 2022 which, is still an incredible feat for us seeing as there is lot of competition in the video game media sector. This year has also helped us to secure 3,54 million lifetime views in our seven years of operation which to us is just mindboggling and we have you all to thank for it. None of this would have been possible without your continued support and friendship. We are deeply humbled and appreciate every single one of you for taking the time to check out our website and read our content.

Speaking of content, our YouTube channel continues to grow and now has over 3,2k subscribers. It might not sound like much but we started the year with around 1,000 subs so growth of more than 2,000 is pretty good going for us. Our output on video uploads has also increased with more focus on gameplay videos for our EXPlay review coverage as well as short introductory trailers shared by game publishers for their games like the upcoming Fire Emblem Engage.

For me personally, 2022 has been a very good year for me as I have had the privilege of attending several different video game events in the UK and Spain. Such events include WASD Live, Gamepolis, EGX, MCM Comic Con London, Antequera Manga Weekend, Game4Play, and Retro Chiclana. Each event had their benefits and were great opportunities to reunite with old friends and make new ones. We even got to play some of 2022’s upcoming games and attend a very interesting talk by the developers of Goldeneye 007 on the Nintendo 64 as the iconic game celebrated its 25th anniversary.

So, with all that we have achieved in 2022, what does 2023 have in store for us all? As always, we will continue to upload entertaining and useful content to our website and YouTube channel, and grow our audience and what great content we will have for you this year. We have games like Fire Emblem Engage, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Pikmin 4 and many other exciting titles slated to release in 2023 and we will do our utmost to cover them here at Miketendo64.

As always, we will be counting on your support again this year to keep the Good Ship Miketendo64 sailing forward so be sure to visit http://www.Miketendo64.com every now and again throughout 2023 and feel free to leave a comment so we can engage with you.
