For those of you who use the app and are experiencing issues with the Switch Online App, as it’s now not working you nuked your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island, here’s how to fix it!
Island Reset and App Issue:
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now a little over two months old, but some people are still tinkering with the perfect layout to their island. This has prompted some players to “nuke” their island, meaning to delete their save data and restart the game again to get a new layout, as well as shuffle of different starting animals for your island.
For those of you who have been using the Switch Online App, this island “nuking” business may have inadvertently created an issue where you are no longer able to use your Switch Online app, and we are here to help!
In order to get your Nintendo Switch Online App unstuck from your previous account, you first enter the Animal Crossing menu screen and press the minus (-) located on your Joycon or Pro controller.
From there, you should see Tom Nook greeting you and asking what settings you would like to talk about. Choose “NookLink settings.”
Tom Nook will then connect your Nintendo Account to the Switch Online App, and you will have to log back into it by signing out of the previous account via settings of the app on the upper right-hand corner.
Press the “Sign in” option on the screen, and sign in using your E-mail address or Sign-in ID and password.
After that, press Animal Crossing: New Horizons under Game-Specific Services and choose your new account or the account you would like to use.
Now that you have the Switch Online App working with your new (or previous) account, you should be able to add the friends you had previously. Keep in mind that you might have to follow this process every time you delete your world.
