Me, You & Xeno with Pix1001

Q1. Name and/or Known Alias? Pix1001, writer for Shoot the Rookie, @pix1001 on Twitter.

Q2. What was the first Xeno game you played? Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Q3. What was the last Xeno game you played? Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Q4. Do you have a singular favourite Xeno game? I actually can’t pick! At a push I would say XC2.

Q5. What is it about [your favourite game] that you love so much? I think XC2 just improves on a lot of the things that were in the previous games, particularly the combat and also the way there is lots to do outside of the main story that isn’t just collecting stuff.

Q6. If you could only see just one Xenoblade Chronicles game ported to the Nintendo Switch, what game would you choose: Xenoblade Chronicles or Xenoblade Chronicles X? I would choose Xenoblade Chronicles X. The original game is now on 3DS, Wii and Wii U – if people want to play it, there are lots of options for them, however due to the relatively low sales of Switch, I never felt X got given a proper go at being as successful as the first game so would like to see it have some time in spotlight.

Q7. As far as Xeno as Super Smash Bros. go, Xeno only has one rep. If you could have any character from any game, who would it be and why? Melia. I think they could do cool things with her elemental ether attacks and her ether staff.

Q8. Who would win in a fight, Rex or Shulk? Rex. I can’t really imagine Shulk winning a fight against anyone.

Q9. What would you rather, a Fire Emblem Heroes-like gacha game for mobile for a Xeno Warriors? Can I say neither?

Q10. A true Xeno Warriors game would be nothing without reps from every game, if you could pick just 20 characters who would be in playable in it, who would you choose? Just 20? That’s loads! Ok here goes: Shulk, Reyn, Melia, Fiora, Sharla, Riki, Dunban, Elma, Lin, L, Rex, Mythra, Zeke, Pandoria, Nia, Mòrag, Brighid, Dromarch, Poppi & Jin.

Q11. Who is your “Best Girl” in Xenoblade Chronicles 2? Mòrag (although I don’t think she would like the term!)

Q12. Who is your “Best Boy” in Xenoblade Chronicles 2? The Zekenator.

Q13. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has a number of fantastic Rare Blades. Which of them have a place on your Top 10 Blades list for XC2? Ooh. I like this question but I don’t have 10. (I’m not including blades that are part of the main story): My top picks would be: Electra, KOS-MOS, Azami and Wulfric.

Q14. Being the gift that keeps giving, the Expansion Pass for Xenoblade Chronicles 2, comes packed to the rafters. Did you pick up? No – waiting for Torna: The Golden Country to release. EXCITED!

Q15. With Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The  Golden Country, launching physically this month, will you be picking up the physical copy, or just plaything through it digitally when the version 2.0 update drops on September 14? I haven’t entirely decided. I would quite like a physical copy – it would save space on my Switch and look good on my shelf, but I’m not sure yet.

Q16. What does Xenoblade and the Xeno series in general, mean to you? It means discovering brand new worlds, exploring them, meeting new characters to laugh and cry with, getting sucked into an amazing story and looking at some pretty heavy themes. It has something special about it that I can’t put into words.

Q17. What is a Xeno moment you will always treasure? *Spoilers* My favourite moment is when it is revealed that Alvis is a computer. I mean WHAT ON EARTH!? Who saw that coming?

Q18. On a scale of 1 to 10, how hyped are you for Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country? 10?

Q19. As far as Xenoblade Chronicles 2 goes, how does it compare to other Xeno games you’ve played? I think I answered this in Q5 – it just does most things bigger and better. Having said that, I do prefer the open world of X in the sense that you don’t need to fast travel anywhere – once you have a Skell you can get literally everywhere on foot – I find that fast travelling between the titans in 2 makes it feel slightly disjointed. I think story and character wise it is on a par with the other games, the characters in Xenoblade 1 may just edge that aspect of it though.

Q20. Since a true fan can both like and hate things about a series they love, what do you love most about the Xeno, and what do you hate about them? Love = The characters. Hate = “Think you can take me? Don’t forget me” AHHHHHHHH!

Q21. If Nintendo were to announce Xenoblade amiibo cards, what would your reaction be and would you purchase them? That would be great, stuff like that is cool, I don’t know if I would rush out to buy them but might at some point.

Q22. If you were creating a Xeno dream team, who would you have and why? Ok, I’m not taking this question seriously; I’m going to pick Reyn, Zeke and L as they would be completely hilarious (but possibly a bit useless!)

Q23. Where do you hope Xeno and Xenoblade Chronicles go from here? I know that it is an obvious answer, but I really want to see Xenoblade Chronicles X-2. The story was left on a total cliff –hanger, and I would love the opportunity to return to Mira, which is my favourite Xenoblade ‘world’ – I guess the tricky thing for Monolith would be trying to make it different enough from the first game to keep us interesting.
