Now we all know that Splatoon 2 would be incredibly popular, what we didn’t know was just how popular. Well according to Famitsu, Splatoon 2 has sold 670,955 physical copies in only 3 days since it released, and that is just Japan! This of course makes it the highest selling Switch title to date in Japan for the short period it has been available.
If we compare the sales for Splatoon on the Wii U with those of Splatoon 2 on the Nintendo Switch, Splatoon 1 managed 156,610 physical copies in four days in Japan whereas Splatoon 2 has quadrupled that in less days. That just goes to show how Fresh Splatoon is right now.
Of course, The original game was on a console that not enough people gave a chance and the fact that Splatoon was a new IP meant that popularity could have swung either way. So you can’t really compare the popularity of one game to it’s original predecessor, so I suppose the real question will be, How will Splatoon 2 compare against Splatoon 3 when that comes into stores? It will be a while yet anyway so let’s just enjoy Splatoon 2 until then.
