In a bid to ensure not all news content on our news site is Nintendo Switch related, here’s some Pokémon GO news.

Following its release half way through the year, App Annie reports that Pokémon GO amassed over $950 million dollars, a sum that saw Pokémon GO take the No.3 spot for apps that made the most revenue in 2016. Quite the achievement indeed, but today’s news doesn’t stop there because a new update is on its way. Granted it’s nothing special, but it’s still an update nonetheless:

Pokémon GO updated to version 0.53.1 for Android and 1.23.1 for iOS:

(25th of December, 2016)

“Trainers,

Pokémon GO is in the process of being updated to version 0.53.1 for Android and 1.23.1 for iOS devices. Below are some release notes and comments from our development team.

  • Updated Apple Watch to display Eggs obtained from PokéStops.
  • Changed distance tracking to better account for GPS drift.
  • Minor text fixes.

While this might not be the full Gen 2 integration news we’re all waiting for, we are now in 2017, so while we’re hearing nothing more on Gen 2 Pokémon this week, next month, or even next week could be a different story.
