Nintendo Switch 2 Has Sold 23.68 Million Units, Switch Sitting At 156.59 Million

Hey all! Nintendo Japan has shared its quarterly financial results ending June 30, 2026, today. This means that Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch sales have been updated, along with first-party software sales as well. The Switch 2 is still doing well, having reached 23.68 million units sold worldwide, with sales improving over the last quarter. This last quarter, Nintendo had moved 3.82 million units, while in the previous quarter it had moved only 2.49 million. The Nintendo Switch, on the other hand, is still steadily selling and currently sits at 156.59 million units in its lifetime. It still has a ways to go to beat Sony PlayStation’s 160+ million, but there is still every possibility that it can happen. However, come September 2026, the Nintendo Switch Family of systems will no longer be sold in Europe due to the EU’s replacement policy and Nintendo making the decision to halt distribution to EU countries. The Switch 2, on the other hand, will obviously continue to be sold as a new revision, including a replacement battery, will be available on the market. As for software sales, we did get some information on the likes of Pokémon Pokopia and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream sales. Pokémon Pokopia is reported to have sold 3.68 million outside of Japan, but the numbers for Japan itself have not currently been published as they are handled by The Pokémon Company themselves. The current report is that they are over 5 million in total, but there has not been official word from The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, or the game’s developers, Koei Tecmo, on total worldwide sales. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream has done extremely well for itself as the Nintendo Switch title has sold over 8 million units worldwide. Granted, the game can be played on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, which has certainly helped move units and it’s great to see that the Miis still have what it takes to encapsulate us once again. As for other Switch 2 software sales, the updated numbers are as follows:

• Mario Kart World | 15.39 million
• Donkey Kong Bananza | 4.78 million
• Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition | 3.99 million
• Pokémon Pokopia | 5 million+ (Global) | 3.68 million (Outside of Japan)
• Kirby Air Riders | 1.90 million
• Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition | 1.15 million
• Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment | 1 million

The list does seem quite short at the moment, as normally Nintendo displays its top 10 best-selling games for each system, and there are only seven on the list so far, with two of them being Nintendo Switch 2 Editions. It is also a shame that Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is nowhere to be seen, nor Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. For anyone hoping for some light shared on Star Fox sales, Nintendo has not included them in their quarterly financial results this time around. It is possible that due to the title’s release being in close proximity to when the quarterly results were reported, there was not enough time to go through the data.
