Hey all, welcome back to the M64 Latest. As I mentioned yesterday, I am starting up a new form of content that I hope to publish daily, or at the very least, periodically, that will cover the latest Nintendo news, as well as games that I am currently playing, and what content we have coming to Miketendo64.

For today’s post and in the spirit of the new year, I wanted to talk about some of my New Year Resolutions. As with most resolutions, I aim to get fitter and healthier this year and so I am going to jump back into Ring Fit Adventure once again. I played it profusely back in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic but I have since let it fall on the wayside and not touched it since. I have noticed that it is not the only thing that I have let slide as the waistline continues to expand and I really need to get my keister in gear and do some exercise. How much will Ring Fit Adventure, help me, I do not know but I hope to alternate between it and the likes of Fitness Boxing so I can at least become more active than I currently am.

M64 Latest News: Nintendo Switch 2024 New Year Sale

As we roll into 2024, Nintendo Europe and the UK are celebrating the new year with a huge sale on the Nintendo Switch eShop with over 1,000 games being discounted. While Nintendo’s first party titles are sitting at 33% off on the likes of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Nintendo Switch Sports, and Mario Party Superstars, there are plenty of third party games at 50-60% off like Capcom’s Resident Evil series (including the Cloud games).

There are even bigger discounts on other third party and indie games that go as far as a whopping 80 and 90% off! Even recent releases like Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition and Red Dead Redemption are currently at 34% off and Batman Arkham Trilogy at 34% off. The sale is ongoing until January 14th so if there are any games you were holding out for, now might be the time to pick them up.

New Year, New Games, And Old Games Too (Tackling The Backlog)

On another note, I wish to share with you the kinds of games I will be playing this year. I have a decent sized backlog that I wish to tackle this year as well as games that I have to review. Then, of course, there is the ever growing wishlist for games like Princess Peach Showtime, Luigi’s Mansion 2 Remastered, and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. I could add Mario Vs Donkey Kong to the list as well, but that there isn’t a lot of buzz around that game at the moment and even though, I will pick it up, I don’t know if folks will be interested in reading about it, but we will see.

Back on the topic of the backlog, I have recently added a couple of games to the pile including Red Dead Redemption and XIII. I hope to make a start on those games sometime this week so I will be sure to share my initial toughts on them after I start playing them. Whether or not I will play them to completion is another story but I will keep you updated either way and will be sure to share some initial gameplay coverage over on our YouTube Channel.

What’s Coming January

Seeing as we are into a new month, let’s have a look at what we have to look forward to in the month of January. In no particular order, Another Code Recollection releases on Nintendo Switch on January 19th and it includes both Another Code: R- A Journey Into Lost Memories and Another Code: Two Memories.

Our reviewer has his heart set on reviewing the game for an EXPlay so if you are interested in reading it, be sure to stick around and we will let you know when it goes live. If you can’t wait, however, there is a demo for Another Code Recollection that is available now on Nintendo Switch and Jonathan has already written a thorough EXPlay for it, which can be read now on our website.

For amiibo fans and collectors, the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 amiibo of Noah and Mio are also releasing on January 19th, 2024, the same day as Another Code Recollection. Unfortunately, unless you were lucky enough to pre-order them beforehand, their availability in stores will be rather limited, if not non-existent. Some online outlets like Amazon or XTRA Life may get a restock but I fear many may become victim to scalpers charging extortionate prices for a chance to get their hands on these amiibo.

I can only hope that the My Nintendo Store will get a restock of these amiibo in the near future and will at least give My Nintendo members a chance to sign up for notifications as to when they will become available again.

Speaking of amiibo, there is little news as what lies in store for the future of amiibo with the exception that the Sora amiibo in the Super Smash Bros. series (and of Kingdom Hearts fame) will be available next month on February 16th. Other than that, there has be no mention of other amiibo figures coming for the rest of the year but as an avid amiibo collector, I live in hope to see more amiibo on the horizon so I can add them to my ever growing amiibo collection.

Rounding Out

Well, that is all from me for today. I shall be back again tomorrow with another update in the world of Nintendo games and the latest from Miketendo64. Before I go though, I shall leave you with this post from the @SplatoonNA X account which features a special video from the Deep Cut crew from Splatoon 3.
