Just another day at the Tobacco Dock.
Here at Miketendo64, we really do love visiting video game expos, and with the arrival of a brand-new expo, taking place at London’s Tobacco Dock, between April 7 – Apil 9, 2022, there was no way we could allow ourselves to skip this one. So, with press status approved, an additional ticket secured, and Mike in the UK, on April 9, 2022 the Miketendo64 Bros. and company, bid farewell to the likes of Southend and boarded one of Greater Anglia’s many trains and embarked on our quest.
With a double buggy and multiple connections, it was an eventful journey to be sure, thanks to getting off at Stratford, where, thanks to an out of service elevator, we marched down a large flight of stairs, made our connection to Canada Water and then tackled more stair cases before our final train to Shadwell. From there, it was a simple case of making it to the streets above and walking to the Tobacco Dock.
Having never visited this location before, it was very easy for all of us to be overcome by its spacious beauty and unique setting and once inside, the spacious atmosphere would continue as the event and venue, much smaller compared to the likes of EGX, was welcoming throughout, with plenty of space to walk around, maneuvering your way around other attendees and many games for players to play.
With no feeling of being cramped and a less lively, noisy atmosphere we have become accustomed to from other events, every chat we had with friends, strangers and game developers was much clearer than ever before that we were even able to conduct a spot of quick-fire interviews with many developers to Switch bound titles, all worth checking out, here and here.
Of course, there’s also an extra interview we conducted, which continues with our Imp of the Sun line of questioning, and you can see it right here:
In conclusion, our time at W.A.S.D, was a brilliant one and we would truly recommend it to anyone in the area. The only negative we have is the hope tha hope next time around there is a larger display of merch and stalls, as we had plenty of cash to burn and sadly, this time around, we weren’t as spoiled for choice as we usually are.
