Ever since the fake video all about Switch firmware version 5.0 was teased, for some of us, it’s all we can think about. We think about when it could be out, what it could entail and now that we finally had the chance to strike it from the front of our minds, as we replaced it with Smash, it’s time to start thinking about it again. Why? Because the latest update for the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app makes note of it in its patch notes, as the latest update for it, is out now and we’ve got the official noted, right here:

What’s New with Version 1.5.0:  (Requires Android version 4.4 and up)

  • A new feature lets you add software titles to the whitelist to exclude them from the Parental Controls Restricted Software setting.
  • You can lock the app so that fingerprint authentication is required to use it.
  • The time range for the bedtime alarm is now longer.
  • Settings made using the app will sync to the console even in sleep mode.
  • Implemented feature improvements.

*In order to use some of these features, you must update the Nintendo Switch system version to 5.0.0 or later.

By no means is this a certainty that the 5.0 update will drop this week, like some rumours will have us believe (there were rumours in January, 2018 that it would arrive in the middle of March), but it does mean it’s eventually arrival is now sooner rather than later. We’ll provide you on more news of this, as and when it comes.
