More news to come from the Financial Results Briefing. The Nintendo Switch Online service will be officially launching in September. This will bring an end to the currently free online service we have been using to play the likes of Splatoon 2, ARMS, etc. Instead we will have to pay a fee every month to be able to access the online features we have already been enjoying but there will also be classic titles that will be available to download and will also have extra online features. Discounts on various software has also been mentioned.
Not much else was said on the subject apart from Kimishima’s statement:
“Next let’s talk about Nintendo Switch Online, the paid subscription service that expands the online functionality of the Nintendo Switch. We reported previously that the service would launch in 2018, and now the official start time has been set to September 2018. Work is progressing on ways to further heighten the gaming experience for consumers. Details will be made available as they are finalized.”
