Niantic must have got bored with the softly, softly approach because now they have kicked down the door in door, stormed the premises and released Pokémon GO in 26 new European countries for both iOS and Android and you can find each and every country below along with the official confirmation:
Austria
Belgium
Bulgaria
Croatia
Cyprus
Czech Republic
Denmark
Estonia
Finland
Greece
Greenland
Hungary
Iceland
Ireland
Latvia
Lithuania
Luxembourg
Malta
Netherlands
Norway
Poland
Romania
Slovakia
Slovenia
Sweden
Switzerland
Now me personally, I’m wondering why France isn’t on this list, because you would really expect it to be one of the 10 countries Pokémon GO should release in first for Europe but it isn’t. Although saying that, Japan is also absent from this list as it seems this rollout was all about Europe and only Europe, leaving the likes of Canada, Mexico and Japan to go without for even longer.
But as great news as all this is, the good old server issue is back, because despite a single hour where I was able to play and enjoy it, I haven’t been able to get back into the app since, due to a very familiar problem, the servers.
Yes it seems the 26 additional countries are the straw that broke the camel’s back because the servers are being overloaded once more. So with that in mind, will Niantic be releasing anywhere else within the next few days? No, not if history repeats and they put it on pause again to address this new server issue.
