Picture Perfect.

If I had to sum up my shiny hunting for the last few months, the short answer would be abysmal. With so many new games to play, working longer hours at the day job and enjoying family time in my downtime, it has been months since I last picked up Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

In the last few months, the only two Pokémon games I’ve been able to play lately are Pokémon Café ReMix and Pokémon GO and my shiny luck in Pokémon GO has become downright ridiculous. I try to spend at least 10 minutes a day playing Pokémon GO and I will always play for at least an hour on Community Day, but even then, I’m catching hardly any shiny Pokémon.

Heck, I wasn’t even encountering them and having the misfortune of them running off on me. Still, having finally found some free time for myself, I decided to seize the moment and go for a bike ride, opting to play Pokémon GO as I cycled. It was the last day of the Test Your Mettle event and I had some leftover field research to complete.

Having been after a shiny Aron and shiny Nosepass for months, I had hoped today might be the day I finally encounter one. Regrettably, today would turn out to be just like all the other days before and no such luck would occur, but some fortune remained.

In a surprising turn of events I wasn’t expecting, I did go on to capture a new shiny Pokémon I didn’t possess previously. I was partly frustrated it was not one of the two I was hoping for, I was overjoyed when I realised the shiny in question was none other than Stunfisk.

First introduced in the fifth generation of the main series of Pokémon games, Stunfisk was never really a Pokémon that leapt out at me, but as soon as a Galarian variant was announced for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, in my personal opinion, Stunfisk swiftly rose in popularity. Still, Niantic and Pokémon GO have now both smiled upon me for I no longer need to settle for the regular form, thanks to my successful attempt at catching my shiny Galarian Stunfisk.

By no means was Stunfisk the original shiny monster I had hoped for, but were it not for this twist of fate, I would not be able to share the following photos:

At present, there is no immediate rush to transfer this extra special Stunfisk over to my Pokémon Sword save file, but after months of effort with a very minimal amount of agonies to show for it, some of my faith in Pokémon GO has been restored and I look forward to seeing what my next bike ride could bring.
