The Nintendo Financial results for December 2021 are now in and as a lot of reports had stated, it has now been made official, the Nintendo Switch has now Outsold the Nintendo Wii. The Nintendo Switch has officially sold 103.54 million units, overtaking the Wii’s lifetime sales of 101.63 million units.

Even though we all knew that the Switch would eventually reach 100 million units due to the huge success of the console, it is still a pleasant surprise to see that the Switch is still very much in demand after being available on the market since 2017.

That being said, even with 103.54 million units, the Switch still has a fair way to go if it wants to be Nintendo’s best selling console of all time. The Switch currently sits in third place behind the Gameboy (with 118.69 million units) and still in first place with a strong 154.02 million units sold is the Nintendo DS. There is every possibility that the Switch can overtake the Gameboy in terms of sales sometime in 2022. As for overthrowing the DS and taking its crown, however, the Switch still has a ways to go.
