Taking care of our teeth and while there is no guarantee whatsoever that the recently revealed Pokémon Smile can actually help players master their dental care, or remain interested in it, it is a free-to-play mobile game that’s available now and taking the time to help you get your feet under the table and share with you all you need to know about getting started with Pokémon Smile:
Section 1: What is Pokémon Smile?
Pokémon Smile is a free-to-play mobile application all about dental hygiene, which makes use of your camera thanks to AR. Gameplay consists of brushing your teeth in a bid to rescue Pokémon.
“Motivating children to brush their teeth can be tough, but with Pokémon Smile, brushing becomes an exciting adventure! This free-to-play game uses your smart device’s camera, allowing children to brush their teeth to rescue Pokémon that have been captured by cavity-causing bacteria.
Skillful brushing will defeat the troublesome bacteria and make the captive Pokémon appear. If kids brush their teeth well, they will be able to rescue the Pokémon. There are over 100 species of Pokémon to rescue, so kids will want to keep coming back to brush in order to complete their Pokédex.
By brushing regularly, children can also earn amusing Pokémon Caps that will appear on their head in the game as they brush. Kids will love seeing themselves wearing a Pokémon hat or even looking like a Pokémon! They can decorate pictures of themselves wearing the Pokémon Caps to create all sorts of silly images.
Pokémon Smile lets you set reminders to let children know when they need to brush their teeth. You can even set a timer between one and three minutes to help children keep track of how long they need to brush.
If children brush regularly, they will receive awards for their accomplishments. Can they earn the Brushing Master award? There’s even helpful toothbrushing advice to help children’s skills improve.”
Section 2: What is the Purpose of Pokémon Smile?
As a Pokémon game all about hygiene, the purpose of PokémonSmile, is to making brushing teeth enjoyable for young children. You’re never too young to start taking control of your mouth and brush your teeth without the aid of a parent.
Section 3: Getting Started with Pokémon Smile
Once you’ve downloaded Pokémon Smile, players will need to select their preferred language, their Country of Residence, agree to Terms of Use and the Privacy Notice and then choose their Starter.
Then you’ll need to enter the player’s date of birth, choose whether they’re Boy, Girl, Not Listed, or No Response.
Players are free to change their settings at any time and additional users can be added for family members.
Section 4: What Settings can be Altered in Pokémon Smile?
In the options section of Pokémon Smile, players can alter Brushing Settingsto set game length to 1, 2 or 3 minutes, enable notifications and set notification times, as well as choose if they want the taking of in-game pictures enabled.
You can also alter current user settings, change users, change languages and even check out the game’s credits, with Other.
Section 5: What kind of Insentive does Pokémon Smile have to Offer Players?

■ Completing your Pokédex, collecting Pokémon Caps—there are lots of ways to enjoy Pokémon Smile! • Pokédex: More than 100 adorable Pokémon appear in Pokémon Smile. Build up a habit of brushing your teeth daily to catch them all and complete your Pokédex! • Pokémon Caps: As you play, you’ll also unlock all kinds of Pokémon Caps—fun and unique hats you can “wear” while brushing!
■ Keep it up to become a Brushing Master! Regularly brushing your teeth will earn you Brushing Awards. Collect all the Brushing Awards, and become a Brushing Master!
■ Decorate your favorite photos for fun! While you brush, you can let the game snap a few photos of your great brushing in action. Choose your favorite shot, and then have some fun decorating it with a variety of stickers! Keep brushing your teeth daily, and you’ll continue to collect more stickers you can use to decorate your photos.
■ Useful supervision features • Toothbrushing guidance: Players will be guided through the toothbrushing process, helping them to brush all areas of their mouth. • Notifications: Create up to three reminders a day to notify players when it’s time to brush! • Duration: Choose how long each toothbrushing session should last: one, two, or three minutes. That way, the needs of users of all ages can be accommodated.
■ Toothbrushing tips After each brushing session, you’ll also be able to pick up some helpful tips for how to brush the best you can, based on advice from dental professionals.

Section 6: How Many Pokémon are there in Pokémon Smile?
The Pokédex for Pokémon Smile, consists of 151 Pokémon, all of which can be discovered in the Kanto region. (Starting with Bulbasaur and ending with Mew)
Section 7: Can I Fail to Rescue Pokémon?
Yes, you can. During the brushing process, if you do not brush all bacteria off of the Pokémon that appears, you can miss out on them. As for known Poké Balls that can be used in-game, so far we have encountered the Master Ball and the regular Poké Ball.
Section 8: How Many Pokémon Caps are There?
There is a total of 22 Pokémon Caps in Pokémon Smile, with the first one being the Starter Pokémon you choose for yourself.
The starters consist of:
Pikachu
Eevee
Bulbasaur
Charmander
Squirtle
As for obtaining the caps, you get them for completing certain requirements. Below is a list of Pokémon Caps we’ve earned, after choosing Charmander as our starter:
For playing with the Decorate feature – Eevee Cap
For brushing your teeth a second time – Bulbasaur Cap
For brushing your teeth well – Rattata Cap
Using Lots of Master Balls – Cool Duo
Doing great at catching Pokémon – Squirtle Cap
Brushing everyday (Day 3) – Geodude Cap
In celebration for of your new Brushing Award – Magikarp Cap

Section 9: Can I Change Pokémon?
Although you can’t change your Starter Pokémon, you can change your Pokémon Cap. In order to do this, you will need to have a second Pokémon Cap and select it.
Section 10: Can I Rescue more than 1 Pokémon a Day?
Although you can’t immediately brush your teeth after you’ve just done so, after a 4 Hour cooldown, you can brush your teeth again and rescue another Pokémon.
Section 11: What are the Purpose of Stickers in Pokémon Smile?
The Stickers are purely decorative and used for decorating the photos that are taking, during periods of brushing your teeth.
Known ways of obtaining stickers include:
Brushing your teeth for the first time (Day 1) – Pikachu Sticker
Brushing your teeth for the second time (Day 2) – Bulbasaur Sticker
Brushing your teeth for the third time (Day 3) – Charmander Sticker
Brushing your teeth for the fourth time (Day 4) – Squirtle Sticker
Brushing your teeth for the fifth time (Day 5) – Jigglypuff Sticker
Brushing your teeth for the sixth time (Day 6) – 2nd Pikachu Sticker
Brushing your teeth for the seventh time (Day 7) – Slowpoke Sticker

Section 13: How Does Decorating Work?
After a quick gameplay session of brushing one’s teeth, if photo taking is enabled, you will be able to select your favourite 1from the 4 best photos taken and then given the means to decorate it with the available tools and stickers.
Section 14: Any Last Words?
Purely because13 is unlucky for some, Pokémon Smile is really simple game for anyone to jump into and no, you do not need to actually be brushing your teeth to play, as there is a workaround. If you don’t feel like using a brush all the time, your index finger will do just as fine, as long as you follow the on-screen instructions.
What’s more, even an adult can find some enjoyment in this mobile game that no could have ever predicted.
