While Mario fans have to wait until the likes of 2022 for the upcoming animated Super Mario Bros. movie, it’s not Nintendo’s only means of expanding the IP as 2020 is the year that will see the release of Super Mario themed LEGO sets and a Levi’s Super Mario range, which is available now.
Here are Nintendo’s statements regarding the IP expansion in both these areas:
“Clothing company Levi Strauss is selling products full of inspiration from the world of Super Mario, centered on streetwear-inspired denim jeans, as well as T-shirts, polo shirts, hoodies, and other items.”
“The LEGO Group announced LEGO Super Mario as a collaboration between LEGO and Super Mario. In this new product series from the LEGO Group, you move an interactive LEGO Mario figure around a course built from LEGO bricks, progressing and collecting coins.”
Then in their usual fashion, Nintendo stated that they “will continue” their “efforts to increase opportunities for people to have access to Nintendo IP and increase the value of that IP, which is the source of our competitive edge.”
