In a turn of events that might disappoint Fire Emblem fans, the Shibuya, Tokyo based 8-4, have revealed on Twitter that they are not involved with the localisation of 2019’s Fire Emblem: Three Houses for Nintendo Switch, but they are looking forward to playing it.

In the past, 8-4 localised 2017’s Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia and 2013’s Fire Emblem Awakening, for the Nintendo 3DS and 2009’s Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon for the Nintendo DS. 8-4’s most recent localised games consist of Firewatch and Monster Hunter: World (both 2018.) But, with 8-4 removing themselves from the picture and possibly even Cup of Tea Productions, due to the latter being a voice-over studio that frequently works with 8-4, there are just two real possibilities as to who localising will come down to.

It will either be a new team to Fire Emblem, or the obvious choice, Treehouse. Being Nintendo of America’s in-house product development division that in the past has been responsible for the English, Canadian French, Central and South America Spanish localisations, for games launching in the NTSC region. They’re also no stranger to Fire Emblem, as in the past, Treehouse has localised 6 Fire Emblem games, with the most recent one being the mobile game, Fire Emblem Heroes. Perhaps as we near the game’s 2019 Spring release, a concrete answer will be given, and in  the meantime, instead of worrying about who will be handling it, we simply delight in the fact we know the name of the game, we’ve seen how it looks and it is certainly a Switch game Fire Emblem fans can be excited about.
