Just in case there wasn’t 80 reasons to play Pokémon GO right now, now we have another one!

With the 21st anniversary of the Pokémon franchise set to take place next week on the 27th of February, a new event will be underway that will see every Pikachu encountered between the 26th and the 6th of March, wearing a celebratory hat, which the Pokémon  will keep long after the event is over. While it was not confirmed in the official announcement, since the Christmas hat Pikachu was able to evolve into a Christmas Hat Raichu, the very same thing could happen here as well, but it’s no guarantee it will. Although that said there might even be a festive party hat wearing Pichu that can be caught as well.

Official statement can be seen here:

Pikachu is ready to lead the Pokémon Day celebration in Pokémon GO. From February 26 at 1:00 p.m. PST to March 6 at 1:00 p.m. PST, any Pikachu you encounter in the wild will be wearing a festive party hat! The Pikachu you catch during that time will keep its party hat forever, so be sure to look for this special Pikachu during its short time in the wild.”
