Earlier this month Ubisoft’s CEO, Yves Guillemont said they were making a game for the Switch that he believes will surprise us and I’m pretty sure I know exactly what game he was referring to.
In a new report by Laura Kate Dale for Let’s Play Video Games, she revealed that according to her sources that Ubisoft are essentially working with Nintendo as they are developing a Rabbids game that is set in the Mario Universe. That’s right, the Rabbids are coming to the Mushroom Kingdom, and that Mario RPG: Invasion of the Rabbids (formal title), will be a Nintendo Switch launch title!
The game is reported as featuring a Bowser we are not quite used to seeing as Mario’s nemesis is said to have a ‘form based on the Rabbids’ and he will be a reoccurring boss enemy. Dale also writes that some Rabbids will be foe, whereas some will be friends and that although well-known characters will cameo, lesser known characters will occupy the core party.
More importantly, there will be a playable demo of the Mario RPG in January for press members to try, which will feature a quick-save function so that should the Switch be low on battery, short notice saving won’t be a problem, but that’s not the best bit. The best bit is this:
“Part of the planned press demo includes the JoyCons vibrating to imply a Rabbid jumping into and out of them from the TV or handheld screen. The idea is to imply your system is infested with Rabbids, and that they could at any time jump out of your controller and interfere with gameplay.”
Now I don’t know about you, but that sounds awesome! And while a game that pairs Rabbids and Mario is certainly out there, it is a game I know for a fact a certain couple will love as one is a Mario fan and the other a Rabbids fan. But what about you, what do you make of this report?
