Panicking news.

Back in June, when the Nintendo Switch 2 was released, various Nintendo Switch games received a free update to improve performance and graphics. It has now been revealed that Panic Button Games, the studio behind bringing the likes of DOOM Eternal to Nintendo Switch, was recruited to help Nintendo optimise some of its first-party games. Speaking about the collaboration on X, Panic Button Games has revealed that they were behind the improvements for ARMS, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, Super Mario 3D World, and Super Mario Odyssey.

Panic Button Games’ full statement can be seen here:

“Panic Button was honored to be selected by Nintendo to help update marquee games from the Nintendo Switch™ library. Nintendo asked us to help demonstrate new capabilities of the Nintendo Switch 2 system, while remaining faithful to the original games.”

  3. Getting modern (at the time) Doom and Wolfenstein games working on “The Little Engine That Could” is impressive in itself. This is just icing on the cake.

    1. Absolutely! Does make one wonder though what they might have been able to accomplish on the Wii U had they had the chance. Many developers were quick to say you can’t do anything on it, but The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Wii U was a perfect example of what was possible, if developers were willing to learn the material and push the limitations.
