Heya folks! Mike here with another M64 Latest, giving you a brief recap of news from the world of Nintendo as well as some personal insight into the happenings here at Miketendo64.
much like yesterday, news is a little on the light side but there have been a couple of announcements for games that are releasing on Nintendo Switch this year. I also have a couple of my own developments that I would like to share with you today as well so without further ado, I shall get right into it.
M64 Latest News: New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch
As I previously mentioned, news is relatively light today with the exception of some announcements of upcoming games on their way to Nintendo Switch. New games are always a good thing and we would sooner cover what cool new games are coming to Switch as opposed to “This game dev pours milk before adding cereal”. Not that there has been a headline like that yet but let’s be honest, the way modern journalism is going, it won’t be too long before it becomes a reality. Anyway, onto to the real stuff.
Ahro
Ahro is a side-scrolling adventure game created by Oeh Interactive and being published by Nakana.io. The game follows the titular character Ahro as he suffers from frequent breakdown episodes. He finds temporary relief from herbal medicines but decides to set off on a journey to find a miracle cure that will relieve him of his ailment once and for all.
Ahro is set in a fictional world that is rich with history and lore. The themes of the game aim to be contemporay and relatable, whilst providing space for the player to reflect upon them and interpret. No exact release date has been given as of yet but Ahro is slated for a 2024 release on Nintendo Switch with expectations being within the first half of the year.
Ikkarus and the Prince of Sin:
Ikkarus and the Prince of Sin is a “yaoi-themed fantasy adventure” visual novel that is releasing on Nintendo Switch on January 10th. Players are tasked with managing their daily routine of travelling the land and accepting side quests. The can engage with 3 romantic suitors and discover 6 unique endings.
The game follows a hero called Ikkarus, who after slaying a dragon, returns to his home village and is given ownership of a tavern as a reward for his heroics. Unfortunately, the reward is too good to be true as the Tavern is in ruins and has an outstanding debt of 50,000 gold pieces. Being the hero that he is, Ikkarus rises to the challenge and enlists the help of others to aid in his cause by working at the tavern, making drinks, and slaying monsters in order to make coin.
The Spy Who Shot Me
The Spy Who Shot Me is not a new game and was probably announced some time ago. The reason why we are bringing it up now is because the James Bond inspired first-person shooter is out on Switch today and is priced at $7.99 USD. If you enjoy parodies of 60’s spy films with the gameplay and aesthetics of a 90’s FPS, The Spy Who Shot Me may be a game for you to keep on your radar.
Better yet, we have actually written an EXPlay for it detailing our thoughts on the game which will be published on the website tomorrow. We speak quite favorably about the game but if you are still on the fence about picking it up, be sure to come back tomorrow and read our extensive EXPlay review.
Ten Years Of amiibo Appreciation
2024 marks the 10th anniversary since Nintendo’s Toys-To-Life model amiibo came into existence. with that in mind, my brother Jack and I have come up with an idea to celebrate their ten year anniversary since their inception back in 2014. As an avid collector of amiibo (which I am sure I have mentioned at least once or twice over the last few years), I will be publishing a new line of feature articles or appreciation posts dedicated to amiibo that have released over the years.
I am still working out the details on how to best present and format these features but I shall at least attempt to include a list of games that the amiibo are compatible with, as well as include a gallery of photographs including action shots that will show off some of the many ways you can display them when not tapping them on your Joy-Con or Pro Controller. To provide you with a little teaser, you can check out the adjacent image below.
As for another personal update which I shall not take up to much of your time. I booted up Ring Fit Adventure for the second time this year and am motivated to try and stick with it for as long as I can. Even though I am still quite sore from when I played on Tuesday and still have trouble walking down a set of stairs, I managed to do some light exercise and focused on working on my abdomen and torso.
I only had about half an hour to dedicate to Ring Fit Adventure but I still managed to “burn” over 160 Kcal and felt a lot better afterwards. I would have put more time into it today but had quite a number of errands that I needed to do as well as write an EXPlay. Still, tomorrow, I will have more time to dedicate to the game and I aim to put in some serious work in too.
Rounding Out
And with that, we are done for today’s M64 Latest. Thank you for dropping by and we hope you will continue to do so from time to time. If there is anything in particular, you would like me to discuss in a later post, please do let me know in the comments.
Until Next Time, Keep On Gaming!
