[Guide] Super Mario Bros. Wonder | Every Fungi Mines Wonder Seed & Flower Coin

With Super Mario Bros. Wonder available now on the Nintendo Switch, the time has come to embark on a wonderful 2D adventure. Mario is back with the extended gang, resulting in a playable roster of 12 characters and with eight worlds to conquer in the Flower Kingdom, we’re on hand to walk you guys through how to obtain every Wonder Seed and Flower Coin available.

To kick things off, we’re going to do a quick little walkthrough to explain the purples of Flower Coins, Wonder Flowers, Wonder Seeds and Secret Exits before diving into World 5: Fungi Mines:

What are Flower Coins?

Flower Coins are large purple coins that can be found on given stages. Some will be obviously visible when exploring through levels, but others can be hidden and require players to meet a certain requirement to revel them. On stages where Flower Coins are present, there are three to be found and all are required to count towards a level’s complete completion.

What are Wonder Flowers?

Wonder Flowers are an item players can encounter during a level, which once interacted with, unleashes a Wonder Effect that immediately impacts the current stage. Where there is a Wonder Flower, there is always a Wonder Flower waiting to be discovered.

What are Wonder Seeds?

Wonder Seeds are the main collectable this time around, with Mario and friends needing to collect them in order to advance through the game. One Wonder Seed will always be given to the player upon completing a stage, but a second one can be obtained by activating the Wonder Flower and traversing the Wonder Effect to collect the Wonder Seed.

On some levels, it is possible there is a third Wonder Seed available, but in order to acquire it, players will need to discover the Secret Exit in order to obtain it. Wonder Seeds can also be purchased for 100 Purple Coins at Poplin Shops and through completing Challenge levels.

What are Secret Exits?

Not present on every level, Secret Exits are a secondary exit players can discover by taking a different route and encountering a second Flagpole at the end of the level. Jumping on the Flagpole will end the current level and reward players with a new Wonder Seed.

Every World 5: Fungi Mines Wonder Seed & Flower Coin:

Upshroom Downshroom:

Flower Coins: 3 | Wonder Seeds: 2

Flower Coin #1: Hit the flower buds to raise the platforms surrounding the Fire Piranha Plant to access a red pipe. Once in the new area, time your jump to grab the Flower Coin.

Flower Coin #2: Instead of entering the pipe on the right-hand wall, jump onto the blue mushroom platform you raised to reach the second Flower Coin.

Flower Coin #3: During the Wonder Effect, activate the flower buds and use the Jack-o’-Lanterns to reach the third Flower Coin.

Wonder Flower / Wonder Seed #1: When you come across the large glowing pumpkin, smash it to reveal the Wonder Flower. With the Wonder Effect triggered, you’ll be treated to a nice little Halloween styled scene, complete with bouncing Jack-o’-Lanterns.

Wonder Seed #2: Reach the end of the stage and climb onto the Flagpole.

Taily’s Toxic Pond:

Flower Coins: 3 | Wonder Seeds: 2

Flower Coin #1: First, use the Drill power-up to hit the flower bud, to reveal the Flower Coin. Then, avoiding the spiked-ball the Taily shoots, drop down to the lower red mushroom platform to get the Flower Coin.

Flower Coin #2: Using the Taily if you have to, leap up onto the high mushroom platform and jump upwards into the green pipe. In the new area, use the Drill power0up to burrow into the ceiling and reach the Flower Coin effortlessly, or use the Tailys to swing over to it.

Flower Coin #3: Just before you get to the red pipe that will take you to the final screen, there is a long yellow block that when hit, allows you to drop through it, landing on the block beneath it. Run into the green pipe and use the Taily to reach the Flower Coin. The Parachute Cap Badge can come in handy here as well.

Wonder Flower / Wonder Seed #1: In the area where there are three Tailys on the ceiling, kill them all to reveal the Wonder Flower. Once the Wonder Effect is triggered, you will be taken to a new screen where you will need to get three questions right as part of a quiz, pulling on the Tailys with the correct answers, to reveal the Wonder Seed.

Wonder Seed #2: Reach the end of the stage and climb onto the Flagpole.

Light-Switch Mansion:

Flower Coins: 3 | Wonder Seeds: 2

Flower Coin #1: Seen floating above between three lights, hit the Light-Switch to reveal the platforms you need to traverse to reach the Flower Coin.

Flower Coin #2: Ignoring the first monster door that chases you, when you come across the second one, jump on it when it is chasing you and then enter it to be taken to an area in the background. Follow the platforms to reach the Flower Coin.

Flower Coin #3: When you reach the rotating platforms, there is a Light-Switch you can hit, so you can reveal the platforms once more to reach the final Flower Coin.

Wonder Flower / Wonder Seed #1: Ignoring the purple door you can use to reach the end sooner, run past it, dropping down on invisible blocks and head right. Past the checkpoint flag there is a door you can enter and it is in this new area you will find the Wonder Flower. Once triggered, the Wonder Effect causes you to be pursued by King Boo who is all too happy to put on a performance for you. Run right and navigate the area to reach the Wonder Seed.

Wonder Seed #2: Reach the end of the stage and climb onto the Flagpole.

Beware of the Rifts:

Flower Coins: 3 | Wonder Seeds: 2

Flower Coin #1: Almost from the outset of the stage, you’ll come across flower buds that will create blocks, continue to hit all of them to get the first Flower Coin to appear.

Flower Coin #2: Holding a Koopa Troopa shell after the red pipes, you’ll see a Question Mark block hiding behind a rift. Strike it with the shell to create a vine taking you upwards. In the new screen, hit the invisible block between the two bricks to reveal the Flower Coin.

Flower Coin #3: Once you have got the second Flower Coin, you will come across two blocks you can hit. Doing so will make red pipes appear. If done correctly, you will get two red pipes touching each other and need only to stand on the second one to get the Flower Coin that drops onto it. If the pipe didn’t appear, you will need to move quickly to get the Flower Coin.

Wonder Flower / Wonder Seed #1: During a section after the checkpoint flag, there will be singular block hiding behind a rift. Strike it to reveal the Wonder Seed. With the Wonder Effect in action, you will be pursued by a ghost/rift version of your character and ghost/rift versions of enemies as you need to collect five Wonder Tokens for the Wonder Seed to appear.

Wonder Seed #2: Reach the end of the stage and climb onto the Flagpole.

Secret Exit / Wonder Seed #3: If you continued to ride the Bulrush stampede after activating the Wonder Flower, you can get the third Wonder Seed by following the clouds and leaping on to the very, very tall Flagpole at the end of the level.

An Uncharted Area: Wubba Ruins:

Flower Coins: 3 | Wonder Seeds: 2

Flower Coin #1: Head all the way to the right until you reach a downward-facing Konk and you will see Flower Coin blocked off by breakable bricks. Use the Konk to smash the bricks and get the Flower Coin.

Flower Coin #2: When you get to the large puddle of goo with a red pipe, have the Konk smash through it to clear you a path and enter the pipe. Defeat all Wubbas to reveal the Flower Coin.

Flower Coin #3: As a Wubba, ignore the downward-facing Konk, and then leap onto the ceiling so you can reach a platform above the Konk and get the Flower Coin.

Wonder Flower / Wonder Seed #1: When you reach the L-shaped puddle of goo, jump into it and swim over to the Wonder Flower. With the Wonder Effect triggered, you will be turned into a Wubba and will need to traverse many platforms and ceilings to reach the Wonder Seed.

Wonder Seed #2: Reach the end of the stage and climb onto the Flagpole.

Another Uncharted Area: Swaying Ruins:

Flower Coins: 3 | Wonder Seeds: 2

Flower Coin #1: Heading right past the two Mumsies, you will come across a flower bud. Interact with it to get the Flower Coin to spawn to your right.

Flower Coin #2: Between platforms, the second Flower Coin is easily visible. Jump on the sliding block at the right time to collect the Flower Coin.

Flower Coin #3: When you’ve come out of the door to the area with the long line of sliding blocks with spikes, wait for them to go right and head through the passage on the left-hand side of the screen to get the Flower Coin.

Wonder Flower / Wonder Seed #1: Riding a sliding block, stand on it to enter a door to be taken to a new area. Here you will see a sliding block with the Wonder Flower. Chase after it to collect the Flower. With the Wonder Effect triggered, traverse the transformed area, sliding on bright green goo to reach the Wonder Seed.

Wonder Seed #2: Reach the end of the stage and climb onto the Flagpole.

A Final Uncharted Area: Poison Ruins:

Flower Coins: 3 | Wonder Seeds: 2

Flower Coin #1: In the area with the first checkpoint flag and acid that rises as you progress, the Flower Coin can be found up above to the left. Jump up onto the platform above with the alternating flower buds to make the block move to get the Flower Coin.

Flower Coin #2: When avoiding the acid, you will come across flying Koopa Troopas. The Flower Coin will be on a lower platform just beneath them.

Flower Coin #3: During the Wonder Effect segment, the final Flower Coin can be seen underneath a platform, just above some acid. Be careful as touching the acid will kill you.

Wonder Flower / Wonder Seed #1: In an area with the second checkpoint flag, ground pound the puddle of green goo to reveal the Wonder Flower. With the Wonder Effect Triggered, your character will be turned into a Wubba. Using the ceiling, advance past the Flagpole and navigate the maze to eventually reach the Wonder Seed.

Wonder Seed #2: Reach the end of the stage and climb onto the Flagpole.

Badge Challenge: Grappling Vine I:

Flower Coins: 3 | Wonder Seeds: 1

Flower Coin #1: As you begin your ascent, you will notice the Flower Coin to your left. Run and jump off the purple and blue platform and use the Grappling Vine to reach the left-hand wall and wall jump into the Flower Coin.

Flower Coin #2: In the area with two goo blocks either side of the screen, traverse over to the left-hand one to get the Flower Coin.

Flower Coin #3: Using the yellow blocked platform containing a red Talking Flower, leap off it and use the Grappling Vine to reach the third Flower Coin.

Wonder Seed #1: Reach the end of the stage and climb onto the Flagpole.

KO Arena: Fungi Funk:

Flower Coins: 3 | Wonder Seeds: 1

Flower Coin #1: Beat the KO Arena stage in 200 seconds or less.

Flower Coin #2: Beat the KO Arena stage in 140 seconds or less.

Flower Coin #3: Beat the KO Arena stage in 90 seconds or less.

Wonder Seed #1: Reach the end of the stage.

Break Time! Tumble House:

Wonder Seeds: 1

Wonder Seed #1: With the screen rotating as the house tumbles, work your way to the center, collecting five Wonder Tokens as you go.

Break Time! Trotting’ Piranha Plants:

Wonder Seeds: 1

Wonder Seed #1: Using the music blocks, bounce into the blocks beneath the Piranha Plants to kill them and reveal the Wonder Seed.

Loyal Poplin’s House:

Wonder Seeds: 1

Wonder Seed #1: Simply visit the Loyal Poplin’s House, and you will find a note and a treasure chest. When the note has finished being red, you will be given the Wonder Seed.

Operation Poplin Rescue:

Wonder Seeds: 1 | Royal Seeds: 1

Wonder Seed #1: Enter the stage and collect the Wonder Flower. With the Wonder Effect triggered, you will be transformed into a Wubba. Move through the course, interacting with the flower buds to clear the obstacles and reach the Wonder Seed.

Royal Seed #1: After the Wonder Effect, interact with the Poplin on the far right to get the Royal Seed.
