Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Go big or go home.

From its Wii U days as Mario Kart 8 to its Switch debut, five years ago this April, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has frequently been the talk of the town and one of Nintendo’s best-selling games.

It continues to break records and despite the Switch port on its own, outselling Mario Kart Wii, the previous best-selling entry in the series, coming in at an impressive 37.38 million sales, Mario Kart 8, coupled with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe continue to amaze as the games have now reached a total of 51.91 million sales.

For those who wish to have the numbers broken down, Mario Kart 8 managed to pull in 8.46 million sales on the Wii U, a console that shipped 13.56 million units, compared to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s 43.45 million on the Nintendo Switch, which, according to recent numbers, has sold 103.54 million units worldwide.

All in all, Mario Kart 8 is absolutely killing it for a game that dates as far back as 2014 and despite it being 2022, we have still yet to see the arrival of the next main series instalment. Of course, when it does finally arrive, the big question on all of our lips will of course be “Does it have heat it takes to outsell Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?” Only time will tell.
