Want to know how to get your hands on all of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Gold Unlockables? Well, with our guide, you’ll be showing off your gilded Bling Mobile to your mates in no time!

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe comes with a lot of things already out of the box. Unlike the Wii U version which had certain race tracks and characters that had to be unlocked, The Nintendo Switch version has all tracks, as well as Mirror Mode and 200cc readily available. All of the DLC tracks and characters are included as well as the likes of King Boo, Bowser Jr, Dry Bones and the Inklings from Splatoon joining the roster. Saying that, the only things that are still needed to be unlocked are the karts, wheels, and gliders… oh, and Gold Mario!

Unlocking the standard Karts and Parts

(Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Gold Unlockables)

The karts themselves along with the wheels and the gliders are pretty much the only things that still need to be unlocked in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, like in the original Wii U Version. This is excluding the Gold Kart and parts which are not unlocked in the same way as the other karts and parts. We shall go in depth for each of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Gold Unlockables in just a moment.

Though you will start off with a small collection of karts, bikes, ATV’s (10 vehicles+Master Cycle Zero), six sets of wheels (+ Ancient Tyres) and 4 gliders (+Paraglider), you can unlock more by collecting coins. There are 41 vehicles in total including the Gold Kart and the Master Cycle Zero, which was part of the 1.6.0 update to the game. There are also a total of 22 different wheels (including the Gold wheels) and 15 gliders (including Gold Glider). With the exception of the Master Cycle Zero, Ancient Wheels, and Paraglider, and the Gold Kart, Gold Wheels, and Gold Glider. there are 43 customizable parts to unlock.

For ever 50 coins you collect, you will unlock a vehicle or part until you have collected 1,000 coins. After that, you will receive a vehicle or part after every 100 coins collected. To get all 43 unlockable vehicles and parts, you will need to collect 3,300 coins.

How To Unlock Gold Mario

(Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Gold Unlockables)

Gold Mario is the only unlockable character in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. In order to unlock him, you will need to come in 1st place in all Grand Prix cups and engine classes (50cc, 100cc, 150cc, 150cc Mirror, and 200cc). You don’t need to come 1st in all races, you just need to place 1st overall. Gold Mario will replace Metal Mario on the character selection screen. Metal Mario isn’t gone though. As you select Gold Mario on the character selection screen, you can choose between Gold Mario and Metal Mario, much like if choosing a different colored Yoshi or Shy Guy.

The Gold Wheels can be unlocked by beating every Staff Ghost in Time Trials across each of the 48 tracks. You do have to race each staff ghost and best their time. I reccomend using Luigi with the Mach 8 kart and the off-road tires, but you should definitely use who and what you are most comfortable with. You can even copy the Staff Ghost’s kart set up to put you on equal footing.

How to Unlock the Gold Glider

The Gold Glider has a simple goal than can be tiresome to achieve. All you have to do is collect 5,000 coins which, has been lowered down from 10,000 coins limit of the Wii U Version. As you have played through naturally, you would have collected a fair amount of coins already.

However, if you need a couple of tips to farming coins to get the Gold Glider quicker, you can do the following:

Slow yet “Hands Free”

Set up a 2-player race and turn on auto acceleration and turning for both characters. For race parameters, set it to 48 races, no CPU. Then you can just leave the game and let the characters race around the tracks automatically, collecting whatever coins are in their way. This is a slow method that requires minimal input except for when a race is over and you have to select the next one.

Quick yet “Hands On”

This way can net you coins much quicker but you have to actually put in the work yourself. Go to Battle mode and set up a 2-player game. Set Coin Runners as the Battle game mode and select as many rounds as you want (up to 24 rounds). Set the Round Length to 1 minute and no CPU.

Collect at least 10 coins in each match and at the end of a 16-round game you will have collected at least 160 coins. Rinse and repeat until you get 5,000 coins and the Gold Glider will be yours!
