Some disappointment awaits!
Despite it being common knowledge at this time that Melmetal does have a Gigantamax form, as things currently stand, Melmetal is not among those listed as Pokémon it works on. Incidentally however, thanks to the Pokémon Players Cup stream, we do know what the big boy looks like.
On the plus side however, there are plenty of other Pokémon it works on and we have the full list right here:
Section 1: All Pokémon Capable of Gigantamaxing:
Gen 1 Pokémon: (12)
Gen 5 Pokémon: (1)
Gen 7 Pokémon: (1)
Gen 8 Pokémon: (18)
- Toxtricity (Amped Form and Low Key Form)
- Alcremie (All Forms and Flavours)
As for where to go to make the Max Soup and what’s needed to concoct it, we’ve got all of that and more, right here:
Section 2: What is Max Soup?
Max Soup is a very special dish, which when fed to Pokémon with “Great Potential,” it will enable them to Gigantamax. These “Pokémon” can be seen listed in Section 1.
Section 3: What Happens when I give Max Soup to a Pokémon that can already Gigantamax?
In the instance a Gigantamax Pokémon consumes Max Soup, it will cause them to become a regular Dynamax Pokémon.
In the event you do make that mistake, feeding said Pokémon another Max Soup will restore their Gigantamax status.
Section 4: Where do I go to Make Max Soup?
In order to make the Max Soup, players will need to visit the Master Dojo on the Isle of Armor. Once you have gained access to the kitchen, and completed the third trial, you will now be able to find and use 3 Max Mushrooms to make the Max Soup.
Section 5: Should I Use Max Soup Straight Away?
As tempting as it is to make a Max Soup there and then and Gigantamax one of your beloved Pokémon, you’ll be better off trying to get more Max Mushrooms since you will need to use the 3 you have and Max Honey, in order to get Urshifu to Gigantamax.
Section 6: How to get More Max Mushrooms?
For more Max Mushrooms, after you’ve completed the third trial, you will want to engage in Max Raid Battles. The reason for this is because Dynamax Particles will “scatter around” all over the Isle of Armor, helping Max Mushrooms to grow in caves and forests.
It’s a long-winded process, but this is the price we have to pay to Gigantamax ’em all!
