With half of the world stuck in quarantine due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic, we wanted to highlight a few Nintendo Switch games that can help ease the stress and boredom of being isolated from the rest of the world.
Our list below consists of games that can of various genres, including a couple that will keep you physically motivated as well.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Well, of course, this game was going to be on the list. What better way to get out and about, visit some friends and do a spot of fishing and bug catching than with Animal Crossing: New Horizons? This social simulation game has you design your own island paradise and fill it with animal villagers.
You can craft and buy your own furniture and decorate your island how you see fit! You can play online with friends and chat with them using the in-game chat function or the Nintendo Switch Online Smartphone app with voice chat and easier to use keyboard.
Ring Fit Adventure
The biggest problem with being trapped indoors is the inability to go outside and exercise. With Ring Fit Adventure, you can keep fit and have fun doing so. There are all sorts of exercises that focus on different parts of the body. You can choose to customize your own workouts or follow a recommended workout focused on particular areas of the body.
Though it would take serious dedication in order to lose weight with Ring Fit Adventure if that is your goal, you will certainly feel a lot fitter after several sessions. It definitely helps the body feel more toned and if nothing else, it will at least keep from getting further out of shape.
Now here is a surprise for you. This game released and pretty much disappeared from the public eye almost immediately. As with Ring Fit Adventure, you can get motivated and keep in shape with Fitness Boxing. Throw jabs, straights, uppercuts, and hooks whilst keeping to the rhythm of the music.
It’s like Just Dance but with a much smaller music library and more straightforward techniques. You can customize your trainer and choose workout sessions to suit you. You also don’t need any accessories other than a pair of Joy-Con and can exercise alone or with a friend.
Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training For Nintendo Switch
It is just as important to keep the mind active as well as the body. Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training For Nintendo Switch has 12 different exercises to get the old grey matter going. These exercises focus on Short-Term Memory, Processing Speed, and Self-Control. Players are scored on how quickly and correctly they respond in each exercise
Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training For Nintendo Switch also makes use of the Joy-Con IR camera with some of the exercises and can read hand gestures. It won’t make you the next mastermind but it can help to entertain the mind and perhaps improve your reaction speed.
TRIVIAL PURSUIT Live!
A good game to test your knowledge and perhaps learn a few things in the process is TRIVIAL PURSUIT Live! Take part in a Quiz Show against 3 other players (human or CPU) and see if you have what it takes to be the brightest and the best.
Play either three or six rounds with multiple categories to choose from. Is Arts & Literature your ideal subject? Perhaps it is History or even Geography? Online play and Local Wireless play are available, though the likelihood of finding anyone playing online is rather slim (unless you manage to get your friends to join you online of course).
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
A good way to use up all this free time that you find yourself with is by engrossing in a good RPG or JRPG. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is an ideal game to lose yourself in. There are charming characters with plenty of depth, engaging combat and a vast world to explore.
The expansion pass adds even more lore and content to the already expansive game. So much so that the Torna: The Golden Country DLC is practically another game in itself. With the re-re-release of Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Editon on the way for Nintendo Switch, now is a great opportunity to experience Xenoblade Chronicles 2 before diving into the game that started the series.
The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
We couldn’t finish our list without adding The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild to it. This game was why we bought a Nintendo Switch in the first place. One of the most immersive and expansive Zelda titles to date, it took the Zelda series in a whole new direction whilst returning to the Open World formula of the original and redubbed it as “Open Air.”
The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild gives the player the freedom to literally do whatever they want in whatever order. There are plenty of secrets to uncover and easter eggs to be found that people are still finding new ones even now. With a sequel in the works, diving into The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild now will get you ready for it when it releases.
Other Great Games To Play
To be fair, we could go on and on as there are so many great games to play on Nintendo Switch. However, we can’t keep it to just the six titles above. So, we have listed another 15 great video games that are definitely worth the time to play as well during the quarantine.
