Thunder Lotus made quite a name for themselves with their games Jotun and Sundered. Their next game in the pipeline tasks the player to ferry spirits to the afterlife in Spiritfarer. The game is set to release sometime in 2020 but will have a playable demo available at PAX West 2019.

Veteran Canadian indie studio Thunder Lotus unveils new video exploring the themes of friendship and letting go. Spiritfarer will be playable at PAX West 2019.

MONTREAL – August 1st, 2019 – Thunder Lotus, creators of inspiring hand-drawn indie games Jotun & Sundered, have today released a new trailer for their upcoming game Spiritfarer. The trailer provides a deeper look into the relationship between protagonist Stella and the spirit passengers that she will meet. It explores the topics of friendship, developing a relationship with your passengers and eventually guiding them to the afterlife.
In Spiritfarer you take on the role of a ferrymaster to the deceased, and build a boat to explore the world. You will farm, mine, fish, harvest, cook, and craft your way across mystical seas to care after your spirit friends, and guide them across mystical seas to finally release them into the afterlife. It aims to deliver a visually-striking experience that is both entertaining and emotionally moving. What will you leave behind?

Spiritfarer is scheduled for release in 2020 on Xbox Game Pass on Windows 10 PC and Xbox One, as well as PlayStation4, and Nintendo Switch.
Thunder Lotus previous productions, Jotun (2015, 1500 Steam reviews with Very Positive average) and Sundered (2017, 1700 Steam reviews with Very Positive average) earned high praise from press and players alike for their gorgeous visuals and challenging gameplay.
Eager to explore other game genres and to tackle more mature themes and a richer narrative framework, Thunder Lotus has brought on AAA-veteran Creative Director Nicolas Guérin (EA, Ubisoft) to helm the development of Spiritfarer. Art Director Jo-Annie Gauther also brings back her unique touch which made previous games from the studio so striking. She will be meeting press and fans alike at PAX West 2019.
