Whether you’re new to New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe or a dab hand with the Wii U release and eager to acquaint yourself with the Switch release, there are still 10 fantastic 10 power-ups to use in the game and with this guide, we’re going to introduce you to them:
*All power-up information & imagery comes from Nintendo
Super Mushroom:
Get a little size boost and the ability to withstand one attack from an oncoming baddie. You can also bust blocks when you’re bigger.
Mini Mushroom:
This mushroom lets you squeeze into tiny Warp Pipes and run across water. You can even dash straight up walls!
Propeller Mushroom:
Hover like a little helicopter with this power-up.
*NEW! Super Crown:
When Toadette finds one of these, she can transform into the super=powered Peachette. (Sorry Luigi—only Toadette can use this item!)
Super Acorn:
This power-up will make you look like a flying squirrel—and glide like one, too!
P-Acorn:
A rare variety of the Super Acorn that gives unlimited flight ability through a whole course (or at least until an enemy hits you).
Fire Flower:
These red-hot flowers grant you the ability to throw fireballs.
Ice Flower:
This power-packed power-up lets you toss ice balls to freeze enemies in their tracks.
Penguin Suit:
This special suit gives you the powers of the Ice Flower along with better traction on ice, faster swimming, and the ability to slide on your belly.
Super Star:
Become completely invulnerable to enemy attacks and zoom through courses with ease.
As always, we hope you found this introductory guide helpful. More Mario guides can be found here!
