Pikmin DayNintendo has officially named November 1 as Pikmin Day, launching the new annual celebration with a short Direct hosted by Shigeru Miyamoto that delivers updates for Pikmin 4, Pikmin Bloom, and a new animated short series!
The roughly nine-and-a-half-minute video arrived without prior warning. Miyamoto opened by explaining the date choice: the original red, blue and yellow Pikmin standing side-by-side resemble the numerals in 11.1. From this year onward, November 1 is officially Pikmin Day.
The Direct focused on Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy, due November 12, 2026. Switch 2 owners can issue voice commands to Oatchi through the console’s built-in microphone. The new Dandori Academy mode centres on efficient treasure runs, with practice sessions and limited weekend exams (Friday–Sunday) that award medals. A free demo covering the opening Sun-Speckled Terrace plus two Academy stages launches November 2.
A Nintendo Treehouse session of the Switch 2 edition is scheduled for November 1 at 09:00 PDT (November 1, 2026 16:00 GMT) and will be available on demand.
Pikmin Bloom receives a winter update introducing Secret Caves. Players will find maps that send Pikmin into caves to battle and collect treasures; some maps can be obtained by playing Pikmin 4.
Miyamoto also introduced actress Fuka Koshiba and debuted the first episode of the new Hello! Pikmin short series. The series will arrive roughly monthly on Nintendo Today! and other official channels. The opening short, “Frog”, is already available.
