Mario Kart World

First Nintendo Switch 2 dumps yield character models while larger content finds remain limited.

Following the recent release of Nintendo Switch 2 ROM dumping tools, Mario Kart World has become one of the first major titles to yield extractable assets. The initial wave of activity, publicised by CentroLeaks on October 24, confirmed that full game files were being dumped. Alongside a The Duskbloods beta screenshot, the post included an extracted Peach model from Mario Kart World, with credits given to community members misshexa66 and Switch2Hacks.

A more detailed look at the DLC-related files followed on October 25 in a thread by Taki (@Yakotakii). According to the findings, Nintendo appears to be testing a structured DLC system built around themed “bundles” or waves. File naming conventions—most notably around a Moon Cup icon that includes the suffix “_Racer51”—suggest each wave is organised around a single racer. The internal layout indicates that every bundle is intended to contain one cup, one new item, and one new racer.

The extracted assets themselves look like early internal placeholders rather than final content. The item icon is low-resolution and has been described as resembling a lightning cannon, though it carries no actual functionality in the files. The associated racer model is untextured, uses basic topology, and does not match Mario Kart World’s established art style. Taki characterised it as appearing to be some form of gorilla (possibly armoured) and noted that it is likely filler used purely to test the DLC packaging system.

These discoveries do not confirm a release schedule, final roster, or polished assets. They primarily show that Nintendo has already built (or is actively testing) the technical framework for post-launch DLC organised in racer-themed waves, with the Moon Cup serving as one clear early identifier. Community discussion has treated the finds as evidence of ongoing internal work rather than near-term, ready-to-ship content.

As with all current Nintendo Switch 2 datamines, the information originates from unofficial file extractions and remains unconfirmed by Nintendo. Further dumps may clarify whether the placeholder gorilla-style racer or the lightning-cannon item evolve into finished content, or whether they are simply structural test assets.
