Now that Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok has arrived on the Nintendo Switch 2 on 9 July 2026, it’s time to see how this new content elevates the original experience.
First released in 2024, Granblue Fantasy: Relink delivered a solid, self-contained tale of skyfarers, primals, and high-stakes adventure. With the addition of Endless Ragnarok, the expansion picks up after the main story, expanding the world with new story content, deeper character arcs, and a fresh sense of scale. Without spoiling too much, the expansion leans into its “large-scale” promise, introducing new threats, alliances, and personal stakes for the crew.
New allies — Beatrix, Eustace, Gallanza, Maglielle, Fraux, and Fediel — bring fresh personalities and playstyles. For the uninitiated, Granblue Fantasy: Relink follows the Captain and their crew aboard the airship Grandcypher as they journey toward the mythical Astral realm of Estalucia. Upon arriving in the Zegagrande Skydom, they are quickly thrown into chaos when monsters attack shortly after landing. In the midst of the battle, the Captain and Lyria summon the powerful primal dragon Bahamut to turn the tide. However, things take a dangerous turn when Lyria loses control of Bahamut, forcing the crew to act quickly to subdue it.
As the Grandcypher undergoes repairs in the nearby village of Folca, the crew meets Rolan, the village’s local priest and self-proclaimed handyman. What begins as a simple stay soon escalates into a larger adventure as the crew becomes entangled in the skydom’s troubles, including rampaging primal beasts and mysterious forces that have set their sights on Lyria.
With a colourful cast of returning crew members — Lyria, Vyrn, Katalina, Io, Rackam, Eugen, and Rosetta — the story blends high-stakes action, heartfelt moments, and the signature charm that fans of the Granblue Fantasy series know and love.
In terms of gameplay, Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok remains one of the most satisfying action RPG systems on the Nintendo Switch 2. Players build a party of four skyfarers, each with distinct combat mechanics, weapons, and skill sets. Combat is fast-paced and fluid: you chain normal attacks, link attacks between characters, and unleash powerful chain bursts that combine the party’s strength into explosive finishers. The game rewards good positioning, timing, and understanding each character’s unique playstyle.
The variety is what makes combat so engaging. Some characters are aggressive rush-down fighters, others are ranged support, tanks, or technical combo artists. The Conflux is a brand-new solo mode designed for players who want challenging, unpredictable content. It features escalating obstacles and deeper cycles that become available as you progress. Co-op remains a highlight, with seamless online crossplay across platforms and local co-op exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2. Whether you prefer casual questing or tackling the highest difficulty Chaos Quests, the multiplayer feels polished and rewarding.
The expansion also adds new weapon awakening side quests and higher-tier co-op content, ensuring the endgame feels substantial and rewarding rather than repetitive.
On the Nintendo Switch 2, Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok looks and runs beautifully. The game maintains a solid frame rate in both docked and handheld modes, with rich lighting, detailed environments, and smooth animations.
