Although it was originally announced during The Game Awards in 2024 that TUROK: Origins was coming late 2026 across multiple platforms, a Nintendo Switch 2 version was never mentioned. That has changed, however, as it was officially revealed during the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase, which aired earlier today, that it will indeed be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 this Fall.
The Turok series is one that I hold quite dear and loved playing on the Nintendo 64 growing up. When Nightdive Studios remastered all three N64 games for Nintendo Switch, I was made up when I got the opportunity to review them. I was able to rekindle my enjoyment of the games with the vast visual improvements that stayed faithful to the originals, whilst making them run better and feel much more modern.
When I saw that the new entry of the series was coming to Nintendo Switch 2, I did feel a wave of excitement come over me, and I was particularly relieved when I saw that it could be played in both first and third-person perspectives. The 2024 reveal trailer only showed gameplay in third-person, which was a little jarring for me, as the series has predominantly been playable in first-person.
