Nintendo Switch 2 Sales

We all knew that regardless of its questionable price tag, the Nintendo Switch 2 was going to sell big numbers. What we didn’t know is just how many. Well, Nintendo has just shared that in just four days since its worldwide launch of the new hybrid console, the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold over 3.5 million units and has become the fastest selling Nintendo console of all time.

For reference, the Nintendo Switch which released in 2017 only sold 2.7 million in its first month, according to abcnews.com so this is quite the result Nintendo has made for themselves and the Mario Kart World bundle has no doubt aided in the phenomenal success of the Switch 2’s launch.

What is really quite mind boggling is just how many more consoles would Nintendo have sold if there wasn’t issues with stock running out instantly at retailers? Nintendo did say they bulked up orders this time around for the Switch 2 but it still sold out like crazy with many people having to wait for a second wave of consoles to hit store shelves.

Nintendo Switch 2 represents the next evolution of Nintendo Switch, and we’re very happy and grateful to see it already being embraced by so many players across Europe,” said Luciano Pereña, CEO and President of Nintendo of Europe. “We look forward to seeing players connecting through games like Mario Kart World, sharing the experience with friends and family whether near or far.

Nintendo Switch 2 launched alongside Mario Kart World. Featuring a series-first interconnected world where you can drive virtually anywhere (including across cities, plains, a desert and even the ocean), Mario Kart World includes dynamic weather conditions, new game modes, and up to 24 drivers at once – the most in series history.

And next month, a brand-new 3D platforming game starring Donkey Kong will make its debut exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2. Donkey Kong Bananza will let players unleash their inner Kong as they smash and bash their way through a wild, mayhem-packed action adventure, launching July 17th.
