Echoes of Tetrominoes!
Just in case one MAXIMUS Cup wasn’t enough for this month, Tetris 99 has just revealed the next one. With a focus on The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, the next MAXIMUS Cup, which kicks off on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 23:00 is said to reward any player who earns 100 event points, a brand-new theme based on The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. Play the 44th MAXIMUS CUP online event and you could earn an in-game collaborative theme!
The competition is stacking up in the Tetris® 99 44th MAXIMUS CUP online event. This time, you’ll have the opportunity to earn an in-game theme inspired by the The Legend of Zelda™: Echoes of Wisdom game! During the event, collect 100 event points by playing matches in Tetris 99 mode to unlock the in-game theme.
The event will be: Thursday, Dec. 19 at 11 p.m. PT to Monday, Dec. 23 at 10:59 p.m. PT

- TETRIS® 99 INVICTUS – Take on the best of the best. This is an online battle mode for players who have achieved at least one TETRIS® MAXIMUS victory.
- More Player Icons – Showcase your accomplishments with new icons and clear daily missions for tickets to get new themes.
- Team Battle – Up to four teams can fight for the top spot, and the team with the last player standing wins. XP points are awarded to present players once teams are ranked, so stick around to collect your earnings.
How to battle – You can manually select who to attack or choose from four different ways to target automatically, so you can mix things up during your game.
- Knock Out targeting – This will target players who are already close to being defeated. Ouch! It’s a great way to earn K.O. Badges, though.
- K.O. Badge targeting – Attack players with the most K.O. Badges. Knock out the player, and you’ll get their K.O. Badges for yourself! Just watch out for those counter attacks.
- Counter attack – Go after players who are attacking you. If multiple players are aiming your way, it’ll counter attack them all at once.
- Random – Randomly choose opponents to attack. This could make you less likely to be targeted for counter attacks.
Big Block DLC – Get additional modes for the Tetris® 99 digital version as with the one-time purchase of this DLC. Download the Tetris 99 game on Nintendo eShop for free to play. Game modes included are:
- Marathon – Challenge yourself in this offline mode to clear the most lines and score big.
- Local Arena – Get up to eight friends together for a local battle!**
- 2P Share Battle – Share Joy-Con™ controllers for a two-player game against each other and the CP
