But all is not lost!

Released in 2017, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is one of Nintendo’s oldest running mobile applications and a series change is on the way. Nintendo have announced that this November, the online service for Pocket Camp will be coming to an end, but for those who invested their time and real-world currency into the application, all is not lost just yet.

Unlike what happened with Miitomo, Dr. Mario World and even Dragalia Lost, which became unavailable once services ended, Nintendo have announced a paid version of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is in development. With details expected to be shared in October, the paid version is said to release around the time online services end and that those who purchase the paid version, will be able to transfer their save data over to the paid version of the game, as long as your save data is linked to your Nintendo account. Something that will not be carried over, however, are Leaf Tickets, so players are advised to redeem them while you still can before online services end.

Following the announcement that broke this news, Nintendo has put out a useful Q&A:

What will happen when the Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp online service ends?

What is the Paid Version of the app?

In addition to sava-data transfer, the basic gameplay and controls will be the same as Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. However, this app will allow the player to use the included features with a one-time purchase. There will be no in-app purchases or subscription services (like Pocket Camp Club).

However, since this app will not require a continuous online connection, some features that require that connection, e.g. Market Boxes, gifts, and visiting other players’ campsites will not be available.

Also, please be aware that Leaf Tickets will not be usable, and you will not be able to transfer them to the new app.

We will announce details such as price and release date via service notifications around October.

What about Pocket Camp Club subscriptions?

With the end of service for Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, the Pocket Camp Club subscription service will also end.

It will not be possible to enroll in a new Pocket Camp Club membership once the planned maintenance scheduled for October 28th, 2024 begins.

At the same time as the October 28th, 2024 maintenance, automatic renewal for each plan will also cease. If your membership is set to end after the maintenance period listed above, you will not be refunded even if you cancel membership on your own.

If you are subscribed to any of these programs when maintenance begins on October 28th, 2024, you will receive a badge in your in-game mailbox according to each plan you were a member of.
