With Super Mario Bros. Wonder available now on the Nintendo Switch, the time has come to embark on a wonderful 2D adventure. Mario is back with the extended gang, resulting in a playable roster of 12 characters and with eight worlds to conquer in the Flower Kingdom, we’re on hand to walk you guys through how to obtain every Wonder Seed and Flower Coin available.

To kick things off, we’re going to do a quick little walkthrough to explain the purples of Flower Coins, Wonder Flowers, Wonder Seeds and Secret Exits before diving into World 6: Deep Magma Bog:

What are Flower Coins?

Flower Coins are large purple coins that can be found on given stages. Some will be obviously visible when exploring through levels, but others can be hidden and require players to meet a certain requirement to revel them. On stages where Flower Coins are present, there are three to be found and all are required to count towards a level’s complete completion.

What are Wonder Flowers?

Wonder Flowers are an item players can encounter during a level, which once interacted with, unleashes a Wonder Effect that immediately impacts the current stage. Where there is a Wonder Flower, there is always a Wonder Flower waiting to be discovered.

What are Wonder Seeds?

Wonder Seeds are the main collectable this time around, with Mario and friends needing to collect them in order to advance through the game. One Wonder Seed will always be given to the player upon completing a stage, but a second one can be obtained by activating the Wonder Flower and traversing the Wonder Effect to collect the Wonder Seed.

On some levels, it is possible there is a third Wonder Seed available, but in order to acquire it, players will need to discover the Secret Exit in order to obtain it. Wonder Seeds can also be purchased for 100 Purple Coins at Poplin Shops and through completing Challenge levels.

What are Secret Exits?

Not present on every level, Secret Exits are a secondary exit players can discover by taking a different route and encountering a second Flagpole at the end of the level. Jumping on the Flagpole will end the current level and reward players with a new Wonder Seed.

Where the Rrrumbas Rule:

Flower Coins: 3 | Wonder Seeds: 3

  • Flower Coin #1: This Flower Coin can be seen underneath a yellow path, with breakable rocks to the right. Use the Drill power-up to burrow into the ground next to the blocks and head left to collect the Flower Coin.
  • Flower Coin #2: In the section where you have multiple Spinies on the ground and a higher platform above you, bounce off the Topple Rock to reach the platform and then where you see the coins, leap upwards with the Drill power-up. Following the path upwards to be taken to a new area with the Flower Coin.
  • Flower Coin #2: When you come across a spot where you can see yellow topple rocks that can only be toppled in the one direction, with a pipe beneath them, push them to the left to reach the pipe and make a leap for the Flower Coin, just remember to wall-jump to safety. Drill power-up is a must.
  • Wonder Flower / Wonder Seed #1: When you come across a glowing Rrrumba, destroy it to reveal the Wonder Flower. With the Wonder Effect triggered, your character will turn into a spiked ball. Roll through the section to reach the Wonder Seed.
  • Wonder Seed #2: Reach the end of the stage and climb onto the Flagpole.
  • Secret Exit / Wonder Seed #3: In the area with a very tall rock that can be toppled, push it and then run immediately and using the Drill power-up, dive into the ceiling. Then proceed to head right, passing through the crawlspace to reach a pipe and access a new area with a second Flagpole.

Raaarghs in the Ruins:

Flower Coins: 3 | Wonder Seeds: 2

  • Flower Coin #1: When you come across your very first Raaargh, allow it to plummet downwards to reveal the Flower Coin it was hiding.
  • Flower Coin #2: Just after riding the window blocks through lava, you will need to hit the flower bud to make the second Flower Coin appear, just beneath the main platform.
  • Flower Coin #3: Just before the room with the Wonder Flower, there is an elongated Question Mark block. Get on top of it and with the Drill power-up, burrow into the ceiling and follow it up, jumping onto blocks that will reveal themself to you and access a new room. Here you can burrow again to get the Flower Coin but jump out of the way quickly to avoid the Raaargh.
  • Wonder Flower / Wonder Seed #1: Easily visible in the middle of the room, follow the path set by the blocks that reveal themself to you and reach the Wonder Flower. With the Wonder Effect triggered, you are greeted to another top-down perspective maze to explore, in order to reach the Wonder Seed.
  • Wonder Seed #2: Reach the end of the stage and climb onto the Flagpole.

Flower Coins: 3 | Wonder Seeds: 2

  • Flower Coin #2: In the room with the stacked spinning balls of five, the Flower Coin is on a platform to the right of them. Pull on the handle to lower the platform, giving you more time to run and jump onto it, thus collecting the Flower Coin.
  • Flower Coin #3: After the checkpoint flag, in the area where you come across another handle that when pulled, rotates the flame wheels. The Flower Coin can be found near the second spinning wheel.
  • Wonder Flower / Wonder Seed #1: On the platform with a sleeping Goomba, there is a handle for you to pull on. Doing so will form a giant Goomba statue in the background and reveal the Wonder Flower. With the Wonder Effect triggered, your character is now impervious to lava and able to swim through it as you hunt down five Wonder Tokens.
  • Wonder Seed #2: Reach the end of the stage and climb onto the Flagpole.

Hot-Hot Hot!:

Flower Coins: 3 | Wonder Seeds: 3

Collect the five Wonder Tokens to get the Wonder Seed.
  • Wonder Seed #2: Reach the end of the stage and climb onto the Flagpole.
  • Secret Exit / Wonder Seed #3: After the Wonder Effect, make a beeline for the clouds up and to the left. Follow along them, making sure to pass through the flower bud and it would shoot off. Be sure to follow it to discover a door that will lead you to a new exit, complete with a new Flagpole.
