If you grew up with fond memories of Super Mario Land: 6 Golden Coins, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Metroid II: Return of Samus, or the original TETRIS, then you may be very interested yo know about a very cool Kickstarter Project by Ninty Media that may be of serious interest to you.

Ninty Media is run by Paul Murphy, who is quite well known in relative Nintendo gaming communities as the man behind Switch Player and Ninty Fresh Magazine. He also wrote the unofficial amiibook that was all about Nintendo’s Toys to Life range, amiibo. Paul is back with a new project, a detailed book all about one of Nintendo’s most iconic handheld consoles, the GameBoy.

The book is titled Gamebook: The Unofficial DMG Companion and it will be roughly 200+ pages filled with interesting pieces on the console itself, and it’s many iconic games. The book has a kickstarter page and is already funded at the time of writing but there is plenty of time to back the project for yourself and secure your own copy of the book if you are interested.

About the Gamebook: The Unofficial DMG Companion:

Ah, the GameBoy. After witnessing business folk messing around with calculators on a train, Gunpei Yokoi’s brainwave was to make a portable device created using cheap components. That process ultimately evolved into the Nintendo GameBoy, a gaming system with its own power source and a green monochrome screen, beset with a chunky design. What many considered an unwieldly grey brick managed to utterly dominate and decimate the competition over the best part of a decade. Seeing off more powerful handhelds with ease, the dimunitive portable system also amassed a huge library of games in the process. But which of these games are the best? Do they still hold up today? Do you wish there was a hardback book dedicated to the device that fawns over the platform like you do? That’s where GameBook: The Unofficial DMG Companion comes in.

If you decide to back the Gamebook, what games do you hope will be covered on its pages? Do let us know in the comments.
