This truly is the week that keeps on giving, for Nintendo has finally announced a release date for the Steve and Alex amiibo. The long-awaited Super Smash Bros. Ultimate amiibo are slated to release on September 9, 2022.
Pre-orders are still open and for those requiring a reminder on what amiibo is used for in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, we have that here:
Using amiibo in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate:
Tap them in – Tap a compatible amiibo™ to the NFC touchpoint on the right Joy-Con controller or the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller and their figure player will appear in your game!
Train them up – Figure players can learn new abilities and tactics as they fight. The more they battle, the more abilities and personality they gain!
Upgrade them with spirits – Use the spirits you’ve collected to imbue your figure player with their attack and defense powers!
Send your amiibo on a journey – Send your amiibo Figure Players on a journey across the internet to test their skills! Your amiibo fighter will battle against other players’ amiibo fighters even when you aren’t actively playing the game. You can watch your amiibo battle during its journey and you’ll receive rewards when it wins. You might even get some rare items!
