For the Poké Fanatics out there, it’s time to return to the modern day Sinnoh of Pokémon Shining Diamond and Pokémon Brilliant Pearl, as a new special event is underway and the means to capture the illusive Darkrai has finally arrived and we’re on hand to walk you through all the necessary steps to acquire Darkrai:
How to Get Darkrai in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl:
In order to acquire Darkrai in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl, there are a few steps players will need to accomplish, should they wish to add the Pitch-Black Pokémon to their team, but you can start your epic adventure, just as soon as you have unlocked Mystery Gift in-game and make sure you collect the Member Card mystery gift, via the internet any time between April 1, 2020 – April 30, 2022 at 20:28 UTC.
Trying to collect this item before or after the above dates and the item will no longer be available, but the good news is, once you have collected the item, it is yours to keep and you will be able to go after Darkrai at any time you desire, even past the event’s distribution date. The other hurdles players will then need to jump are as follows:
- Beat Cynthia to become the Sinnoh Champion
- Acquire the National Dex
- Make sure your game is updated to version 1.3.0
- Successfully catch Cresselia
Once all requirements have been met, make your way to Canalave City and enter the Harbor Inn. Inside a NPC will talk to the player briefly, before prompting them to jump into a bed and encouraging them to sleep.
When your character wakes up, they will find themself on Newmoon Island. Make your way around the island, following the only path and you will move into a second area, where Darkrai can be found, front and centre. small cut-scene will play out. Simply battle Darkrai and reduce the Pokémon’s HP as much as you can, before opting to induce a paralysis state on Darkrai and then trying to catch the Pokémon, using as many Poké Balls it takes to successfully catch Darkrai.
To help make the battle a little bit easier, here’s a quick run through of Darkrai’s level, ability and moves:
Darkrai:
Level: 50
Ability: Bad Dreams
Moves: Hypnosis | Sucker Punch | Foul Play | Double Team
Incidentally, for those who wish to shiny hunt Darkrai, Darkrai is not shiny locked, so all players are welcome to shiny hunt the Pokémon as much as they desire.
