Even before the Nintendo Switch was released, it became common knowledge that this was a console never intended to compete against its more powerful counterparts, but instead a clever little Nintendo creation that brings together the best of both worlds, gaming at home and gaming on the go. With greater popularity than the 3DS and offering all the same freedom the handheld Nintendo devices offer, but still allowing players to experience first and third-party AAA games, the Nintendo Switch is truly a console that can be played at anytime, anywhere, for any reason.
Because of the console’s portability, it only stands to reason that Switch owners will want to protect their Nintendo Switch by putting it into a protective carry case that will help to keep their console safe and that’s why we’re checking out two PowerA Switch protection cases that really are one size fits all, thanks to being compatible for regular Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite and the Nintendo Switch – OLED Model.
How these cases manage this feat, is by being large enough to house the OG and OLED Switch, but comes with a tasty foam cut-out, in which the Switch Lite can reside in rather comfortably, and still allow users to reach in with their fingers, slipping them either side of the console, and taking it out. With both cases being of a robust size, not too noticeably larger than the size of the actual Nintendo Switch, both the Mario Pop and Rainbow Run Mario protection cases, feature a comfortable, rubberized handle on top of the case that feels good in the palm of your hand, a sturdy and protective exterior with one comprised of a mostly white and purple design and a blackened Mario leaving a rainbow trail behind him, the other is a positively gorgeous, thanks to an all colourful layout, with Mario front and centre, exactly where he belongs.
Not to mention, both protective cases come with dual zippers of a durable design, and then when we get back to the inside, in addition to the foam insets, there is a felt lining as part of the molded interior, a large mesh pocket, complete with zipper, large enough to store your Switch, if you so desire to place it there instead, but also storage for nine physical Switch carts, which comes part of a special screen-protector, thus offering protection and convenience, all in one go.
What I really love about the PowerA protection cases, however, is many of the available products, all offer the same utilities, mirroring each other in price, and are very convenient to use, especially if you choose to use the mesh pocket for storing other things like storing spare Joy-Con. It’s also all officially licensed products where quality is everything and because of how extensive each one can be on a visual scale, ranging from Mario to Animal Crossing and so much more, there is bound to be a case or two that you will simply need in your life, and even if you don’t choose to use it, they do make for an affordable collectable that are too good to pass up on.
