Nintendo has released an official statement to say that they are acquiring the game development studio SRD Co., Ltd. While no numbers have been disclosed as to how much Nintendo is paying to aquire the company, the process is ongoing and is set to close on April 1st, 2022.

SRD Co., Ltd. has worked closely with Nintendo on a number of projects including Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the Pokémon BDSP games, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and many more (according to mobygames.com). With the likes of Microsoft and Sony making acquisitions, it is understandable that Nintendo would start trying to secure companies that they have a close business relationship with. It was just last year that Nintendo acquired Next Level Games (Luigi’s Mansion 3, Mario Strikers Battle League) and Monolith Soft (Xenoblade Chronicles series) sometime before then.
