Kirby Air Riders | Replacement Event Launches Today After Cancelled Halloween City Trial

Shadow Star’s Revenge rules return with increased points and the Ghost headwear still available.

After cancelling the Trick or Treat! Halloween City Trial event on October 30 due to widespread screen-freezing under heavy item load, Nintendo has rolled out a replacement for Kirby Air Riders. The new event uses the returning Shadow Star’s Revenge ruleset and begins later today. All original participation rewards remain available, including the Ghost headwear at 1,100 points. Event points have been reset to zero, but the points earned per match have been increased to help players catch up more easily.

The original cancellation was a rare public pull of a first-party live event; Nintendo apologised and confirmed the rewards would return. This replacement fulfils that promise without the problematic Halloween-specific item chaos. The game, developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo for Nintendo Switch 2, continues its post-launch support with rotating City Trial modifiers and cosmetic rewards.
