From bad to worse.

For anyone still hoping to see 007 First Light on Nintendo Switch 2 this year — especially after it appeared again in the most recent Nintendo Direct — IO Interactive has some disappointing news.

Originally scheduled for March 27, 2026, then pushed back to May 27, 2026, and later to Summer, the game will now not arrive until March 2027. That means when it finally launches on Switch 2, it will be almost a full year later than first planned.

When sharing the update, IO Interactive said:

Today we would like to provide an update on the Nintendo Switch 2 release of 007 First Light. We know many of you have been looking forward to experiencing Bond’s reimagined origin story on Nintendo Switch 2, and we greatly appreciate your enthusiasm. To ensure we deliver the quality of experience players expect, we have made the decision to delay the release to March 2027, with the exact date to be communicated later. This additional time will go toward polishing the Nintendo Switch 2 performance of the game. We were thrilled by the positive feedback on 007 First Light at Gamescom, and it’s a great sign of the progress being made across the whole game as we head toward launch. The same demo will be playable at Tokyo Game Show this week, so please join us there if you would like a hands-on experience. We will share further updates as soon as we are ready. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support.

If you’ve been holding off on buying 007 First Light on other platforms while waiting for the Nintendo Switch 2 version, will this delay change your plans? Are you going to pick it up elsewhere, or will you stick it out and wait? Let us know!

About 007 First Light:

As a young James Bond, use gadgets, stealth or combat to earn the number in this standalone, re-imagined origin story of the world’s most famous spy. Coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
